Vehicle Detail

1968 Camaro RS/SS 350 4-speed. Early ‘68 production (5th week, Aug ‘67) with VIN matching engine block (“MS” Code L48, 350), date code correct M20 Muncie 4-speed (August 11th production date) and date code correct 3.31:1 geared 12 bolt Posi rear end (August 21st production date). The cowl tag validates that this is an original Ermine white with black vinyl top and black custom bucket seat interior car. The car has the desirable console gauges that all work, the tick-tock Tach (clock is inop), front factory disc brakes that have been recently redone and new Hurst shifter with white shift ball. Tires in front are brand new and rears have lots of tread left. The engine has been upgraded with an Edelbrock aluminum intake and Holley carb. It runs and drives well, does not overheat or burn any oil. There is a small and typical oil leak that looks like it is coming from the front of the transmission, otherwise, very sound mechanically. This car looks to be an older restoration with rear quarters and passenger side door looking to have been replaced. Car is very solid, with very little body filler, nice solid cabin and trunk floors, quarters, fenders, rockers and doors all very solid as well. Paint quality is fair, the car looks good from 10 feet, but get close and you can see flaws and some areas that are a bit mismatched. I have tried to capture some of these flaws, but they are difficult to see in the pictures. The car is very presentable and gets lots of attention as is. There is a dent in the passenger sail panel (“C” pillar that can be seen in the pictures) and is missing the rear window trim, SS grill badge and Camaro script badge on header panel. As for the interior, the seats, carpet, door panels, headliner, dash, dash pad, package tray are all in good condition as well. Glass is crack free. The headlight actuators are missing the vacuum lines, but I purchased a new vacuum line kit and will attempt to get the headlight doors working before sale. The car was purchased from an estate sale, so I don’t have any additional history other than what I can see. The car does have a clean and clear WI title. This is a rare and confirmed numbers matching REAL DEAL RS/SS that can either be driven as is, cleaned up with new paint or nut and bolt restored. It has a reasonable reserve price and I am motivated to sell! Please ask any questions you want before you bid. I welcome in-person inspections by buyers or buyers’ agents. Make sure you understand what you are getting before you bid! I do reserve the right to end the auction early as the car is for sale locally.
