Vehicle Detail

Hello and thank you for your interest in my 62 Bonneville. This is a rare one. Only one I've seen or can find with this configuration. Key components being ( Bonneville, Coupe, 389ci/348hp 425A Tri-power 3 speed manual shift POSI ). All certified with PHS docs. It needs brake work to drive, as well as some carb kits. Has new battery but sat previously for 16 years. I will give a description of what I'd want to know, and include a link with tons of pictures on photobucket. I will also be listing but leaving town for a week so what pictures I post is what I have and wont be able to send others as I won't be near the car. Some pics are in my garage where it sat for a year. Other pics are after I pulled it out and moved it to another storage location. All pics are current but I moved from point A to B during the process. I drove it out of the garage and onto my trailer. http://s1186.photobucket.com/user/nutsaboutcars/library/1962%20Pontiac%20Bonneville%20425a%20tripower%20car What is it : 1962 Pontiac Bonneville 2 door hardtop with 389 motor rated at 348HP stock, tri-power carbs, 3 spd manual Heavy Duty transmission, posi rear axle. Car was in a garage after a minor restoration back to original in 1997-1999. I picked it up and brought it home where it is now. Car was sold in San Marcos Texas and resided in College Station Texas until I picked it up. Always a Texas car and the underside shows it ! Still also has a 1960s Texas A&M sticker in the back window. Body - Very nice Texas body. Only work it has had was two small metal patches behind the rear 1/4s down low. The metal repair was good but skim glaze and paint is so-so. Paint was shot in single stage PPG to original color but never color sanded or finished. It's ok for a driver now, but after some polishing and color sanding it would be very presentable. If you are picky you may want to get a few dents and waves taken out of the rear 1/4s. There is no rust anywhere on the exterior and no other rust repair. Bumpers are both good. Rear bumper is triple chrome plated and as new. Front is older replate and a few dents. Windows are all good with some bubbling on a few of the side windows. Trim / pot metal is good on some, so so on others, but perfect for a driver. Frame is perfect and looks like a Texas frame. See pics. Trunk has some scale and a few pin holes but see the pics for yourself. The rear reverse lights are in the trunk but previous owner was trying to find and NOS set to go with the new chromed bumper. It never happened. Trunk light in trunk works but needs a bulb. Drivetrain - Motor was rebuilt in Austin but a reputable shop. The previous owner was a machinist by trade and told me he personally checked everything internally before he put the motor back in. He said it was 'right' and also said it met his picky tolerances. Motor has about 3,000 miles on it. Runs good but carbs need kits from sitting 16 years. Tranny is good and goes in and out of gear great. Brakes are bad. They are hard as a rock as the 16 year old brake fluid gummed up the wheel cylinders after sitting. So it needs new wheel cylinders and brake fluid to drive. Exhaust is old but good, leaks on the rear tailshaft tranny seal but it's the easy one to fix. Tires are good and over 50%. VIN number is stamped on block as is the engine code per PHS docs ( Interior - This is a huge bonus - previous owner spent $ 3800 on new SMS correct exact original interior using NOS material and had door panels as they were. The guy did it right and it's all basically new as it was done in 1997 and stayed inside until I bought it. New dash, carpet, headliner, seats with foam, mats, door panels, package tray. 8 lug spare in trunk, 8 lug plate, jack, nice trunk mat and side panels. Also spare tire cover. Spare is new with sticker still on it. Tachometer is there but not currently working. Gas and triple gauges all work. Modifications - The previous owner pulled a Mickey Thompson - He moved the shifter to the floor as Mickey used to do. I have the original column shift handle and linkage so anyone could put it back the way it was. Previous owner also added an electronic ignition box, brake line lock, and pusher fuel pump for starting the car. All items could be removed easily if new owner should like to do so. The only thing not on the car per PHS docs is the 8 lug wheels. If you know these cars it's easy to removed and swap out with regular rims/drums. Personally I think these are cool and would have done the same thing. They are maybe the best condition drums I've never seen. Great Condition ! So in summary the car had a motor, paint, some chrome, and interior restoration in 1997-1999. Sat for 16 years. Runs but needs carbs rebuilt and brake wheel cylinders. NO you cannot drive it home. Yes it could drive up on a trailer but I would suggest using a transport with a winch as big carriers and hard brakes with a 3spd manual are a bad idea. I know from experience. I also have the car for sale locally on Dallas Craigslist and can end this auction of sold via CL. Deposit of $ 1000 due within 24 hours of auction end. Complete payment due within 48 hours or when car is picked up. I'd like the car moved quickly but not until payment is cleared completely. On Oct-24-15 at 10:27:45 PDT, seller added the following information: Carbs, air cleaner, intake, HO exhaust manifolds, etc are all original to the car. Per a few questions I received. And exhaust manifolds are not cracked or broken.
