Vehicle Detail

2004 Mazda RX-8 for sale by the original owner. This sports car is incredibly fun to drive and looks fantastic. I am only selling because 4 seats is no longer enough for my family. Title clean. Grand Touring (GT) package with 6-speed manual transmission, leather seats, moonroof, and rear spoiler. Very low miles (41,415 as of today), well maintained, never raced, no mods, in good condition. New tires, all keys (2 plus valet) and manuals, even the original window sticker. Extended Warranty: Warranty Direct 49/49 XtraCare Plus with zero dollar deductible. This is a top-of-the-line service contract (original cost in 2012 was over $3,200, paid in full). If you purchase this car from me as a private buyer, the remaining contract will be transferred to you (cannot be transferred to car dealers). The $75 transfer fee is included. This warranty is the real deal - I have first hand experience that almost all repairs that are not wear-and-tear have been covered. The contract covers both parts and work. Most (but not all) parts are included. The contract expires on 6/4/2016 or at 85636 miles (over 40,000 miles from now), whichever comes first. I am happy to email you a copy of the contract if you would like to see the details. Maintenance history: Manufacturer recommended preventive maintenance has been done, always at Mazda service departments (all records available). Interior: The interior is in very good condition. The seat material is black leather. The heated front seats show minimal wear, and there is a superficial scratch on the passenger side seat leather. The back seats have barely been sat on and look new. The floor mats are original and in good condition, with some wear on the driver side mat and the other 3 mats looking new. Center console panel, radio, CD, A/C, everything works. No one has ever smoked in this car. Mechanical condition: Very good. Everything works as intended. Original engine, sounds perfect and delivers strong power (see links to videos below). Steering is tight and responsive. Transmission is very good. The only known mechanical issue is that the brakes (disks and pads) show signs of wear and will need to be replaced in near future. This is indicated by that braking is not as tight as it should for this car, and left front wheel squeaks occasionally when the brakes are hot. Replacement of the disks and pads is for the new owner to do - you decide what you want to install (estimated cost front plus back disks and pads w/ installation $650). Mechanical repair history: Never any major mechanical failures. As in any car, some minor wear-and-tear or mechanical issues have arisen along the years but I have had them taken care of at Mazda service departments only (all records available). Electronics: Everything works as intended. The remote of one of the keys has run out of battery. Tires and wheels: The rims are OEM 18" and show some curb rash. The tires are 225/45R18 all-seasonals and practically new - only about 250 miles on them (Continental ExtremeContact DWS - $670 value). The tire repair kit (never used) is in its place in the trunk. Accident history / Frame damage: None. Accident history / Body: There have been only a couple of minor parking lot -type incidents - other than these the Carfax is clean. Overall, the body is in good condition and the paint shines as new (see pics). The body currently has a few minor age appropriate dings and scratches, which give the body a "good" rating (= not bad, not showroom, in between). Right side fender got an indentation at a parking lot that was massaged back to its original form - hard to spot. Again, see the link to more detailed pics and videos below. Rust: Body panels appear rust free apart from rear quarter panels that show some rust in a small area next to the rear wheel wells. I also found a tiny bit of superficial rust at the junction between the rear spoiler and the trunk lid. Undercarriage shows an amount of rust that you would expect to see in any used vehicle. Recalls: All currently available recalls have been taken care of, including the newest one for the driver seat airbag (the inflator was replaced on 10/30/2015). NOTE: ADDED NEW VIDEOS ON 10/26. For more details on the car, the link below is to my Microsoft cloud folder. Inside you will find a pdf document containing 20 new high-resolution pics of any body imperfections and repairs (with typed-in comments on every page, please zoom in) and brief videos of the body/inside, engine cold start, warm start, redlining beeps (=automatic limiter at 9000 RPM), idling, and driving. The file size for the pdf is below 10 MB but the videos are large (up to 175 MB). The cost for these was about $1,400 total, of which over $1,100 was covered by the extended warranty mentioned above - yet another proof that this warranty actually works and should give the new owner some serious peace of mind. The Mazda service department gave the car the full multi-point inspection and a clean bill of health - the only note they made was about the brakes (see above). Again, the records (copy of work order/invoice) are available. The above description reflects accurately what I know about the car in its present condition. It is unlikely, yet possible, that issues beyond this may exist, and I do not have a crystal ball showing what, if anything, might go wrong in the future - this is why I/you have the extended warranty. Test drives and professional 3rd party pre-purchase inspections are welcome in Evanston, IL. CarGurus.com gives this car an Instant Market Value of $8,701, and this does not take into account the cash value of the remaining extended warranty ($520) plus new tires ($670) plus most recent repairs ($1400) = over $2,500 extra. Look around and you will find that other RX8:s offered at this price have double the mileage and no bumper-to-bumper extended warranty. Also note the excellent AutoCheck score. I already have standing offers from local potential buyers who have seen and test driven the car. Please use the Make Offer feature to make offers below the asking price, but note that - for once - the car is worth much more, and the settings automatically decline offers below $6k. I am happy to answer any questions you may have via eBay messaging or phone. No matter how you measure it, this is a great deal - grab it before someone else does!
