Vehicle Detail
I am selling my 1982 VW Diesel Vanagon. A little bit of background --- the van was brought up to PA from FL in 1992. The young lady went to Clarion Univ. in upstate PA, the engine blew, and Bob's VW in Dubois, PA purchased it with the idea of installing a new motor. He never did get to the install. The van was kept inside. I purchased this vehicle 3-4 years ago, and purchased a re-manufactured engine from The Parts Place. The engine was installed and within 10 miles we had engine problems. Since the engine wasn't installed within the 60 day warranty period The Parts Place didn't warranty the engine. The mechanic repaired it, we had the van inspected, and as stated a lot of the work done. Original engine was a 1.6, and replaced with a 1.9. While the engine is shot, all the brackets for the engine conversion were built and powder coated. I have between $7k-$8k in receipts. As stated, the van has original paint and still has probably 60-70% of the paint underneath the van. Excellent body, good interior, new tires, lots of restorative work done as follows: brakes re-worked, rebuilt hydraulic clutch, new muffler, new battery, new tires, re-manufactured 1.9 turbo diesel installed which is now blown. The engine overheated - it was already re-sleeved so it can't be rebuilt. Regular bench seating. No rust or rot and original paint. Have receipts to verify all work. The pictures show what an excellent looking vehicle this is, despite its age. Price is $2500 and not negotiable. I respond to calls only. 717-329-8350. I paid $2500 for this van and am asking that even with all the work done on the vehicle. While the engine is blown, it has 130k original miles. I will not be selling if only receiving an offer that is unreasonable. If someone is interested in a project, then they will recognize the value of a good body of this 1982 vehicle and the work already put into it. If sold, the listing will be removed so if you see it here, it is not sold.
