****** ATTENTION "0" FEEDBACK BIDDERS****** YOU MUST CONTACT ME BEFORE YOU BID, IF YOU DO NOT, YOUR BID WILL BE CANCELLED. THANK FOR UNDERSTANDING. *****CAR IS LISTED LOCALLY AS WELL, I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END THIS AUCTION EARLY AND WITH OUT WARNING****** NOW RE-LISTED WITH A LOWER RESERVE PRICE.....HAPPY BIDDING!!! The time has come to sell my 1998 VW GTI VR6. I've owned this car for over a decade and have put a lot of time and money into it. But now with a family, I just don't have the time to put into the car like I used to. I feel like it's wasting away in my garage and if someone bought it that really appreciated it, it could become what I've always wanted it to be. Alright, enough of the sob story that no one cares about, on to the details of the car. As stated earlier, this is a 1998 Volkswagen GTI VR6 Drivers Edition. That car has 924xx original miles on it, roughly 60000 of those are from me. I bought the car with somewhere around 35000 miles on it. I believe I'm the third owner of this vehicle. Car has always been garage kept and the car runs fantastically!!!! If you've ever driven an MK3 VR6 GTI then you already know they are quick.....This thing will move! All body panels are straight with no dings or dents. Just a few minor paint chips here and there. The car has a few mods, as you can see in the picture which I will list shortly. I had the whole car repainted it's original ginster yellow color at S&A Auto Body in Lititz, PA. Well, almost the whole car, I had them leave the hood unpainted cause I planned to install a carbon fiber hood. Needless to say, that never happened so the hood is still the original faded ginster yellow that the rest of the car used to be. While in the body shop, I had them shave the rear hatch, so the wiper and VW emblem are gone. I have removed the back seat and rear hatch accessories. It reduced the weight of the car and essentially made it a 2-seater. I still have the original backseat, spare tire, and rear hatch cover that will be included with the sale. Not sure if I still have the seat belts for the back seats, I'll have to check. If there is no seat there, seat belts for it are not required to pass inspection......or at least I've never had a problem with it passing inspection. On that note, the car is not currently inspected. I got it inspected here in VA the first year I moved here and have not got it inspected since. The next time inspection rolled around it wasn't running. I fixed it (bad coil pack) and decided to wait till spring to inspect it. Then it needed something else and then I needed tires and yada yada, you know how it goes. Honestly I don't drive it enough to get it inspected every year, so I just drive it uninspected. I planned on getting it inspected before selling it and realized if it's purchased by someone out of state, the inspection is really no good anyway. Everything is in good working order for the most part. Good pads and rotors, brand new tires, all lights work, no major leaks, motor runs strong. As listed earlier the speedometer and tachometer started working intermittently. After some research, I learned this is a common MK3 problem....something to do with the solder that was used. Odometer, clock, gas gauge, and oil temp gauges all work perfectly along with all other dash lights. A simple upgrade to a HEADS-UP display would solve the speedometer and tachometer issue or you could probably send the gauge cluster to somebody to fix it. Also the brake light stays on constantly. I replaced the e-brake cable a couple years ago and it has been on ever since. Never bothered to investigate the light, cause all brakes are working great. It's a fast and fun car to drive. Definitely a head turner. The car sticks like glue in corners, it was built for back roads! I sincerely hope the new owner gets as many good times in this car as I have. Thanks for looking and happy bidding. On May-27-15 at 16:43:42 PDT, seller added the following information: NOTE: The vehicle history report missed an accident. I got hit on the passenger side at a low speed, nothing major. All damage was fixed and this is when I paid extra to have the whole car repainted. Happened in 2004 or 2005. Just wanted to be completely honest.
