Vehicle Detail
Originally priced at $26,000, only about 200 of these ultra slick bikes came into North America. All carbon bodywork. 130+HP from the ultimate Boxer engine. OZ Racing wheels, full race Ohlins, radial Brembos, real race GP gauge pod. These bikes were raced in North America in 09-10. (Not this one) Tires almost like new. New battery. New clear windscreen. I added a German hand-laid carbon hugger rear fender and an after market plug-n-play bit that enriches the over-lean condition to make it super smooth on the street. Both can come off in 15 minutes or so. It is also wired for a Valentine One radar detector if you want to use it. (Small phone jack.) I also had custom bar ends fabbed for it, custom sliders, and it came with the San Jose BMW adjustable rear torsion bar installed. It has both keys, and a fancy box that came with the bike that contains the excellent shop manual on CD and other bits.I have had many superbikes over the past 22 years and this one is the smoothest and most comfortable, with enough low end grunt to blast away Ducatis. This has never been tracked or down. I am selling it because it is part of a family members estate and needs to be sold, and since I prefer to ride the more comfortable upright position of my modified Speed Triple since I gained weight. With the upgrades it is even better. Research the Web for a lot more on this bike.... This is copy from an '08 HP2 Sport that did not meet reserve on eBay for $14k+ September 19th, 2015: "This is an amazing motorcycle! The HP2 Sport was the first BMW R motor to used radial positioned valves on the historic engine that helped it produce more HP and Torque than any previous R-motor BMW. Additionally, at the time it was the most expensive BMW motorcycle ever sold and I believe that to still be true. The bodywork is all carbon fiber, half was painted white and the dark sections remain exposed carbon fiber so you and everyone else will know what it is made of. The valve covers are even carbon fiber! There are higher horsepower motorcycles out there but this has as much torque as they do. And, it comes in low in the rev range and pulls strong all the way to red line. it is smoother and more comfortable than any other top tier superbike on the market and is a great collector piece. Long term values on these make it a great place to put your motorcycle money. The wheels are made specifically for this motorcycle by OZ racingThe suspension is provided by OhlinsThe radial mounted brakes are from Brembo Real GP guages" It is taking time for the BMW community to rediscover the pinnacle of 85 years of Boxer development (due to the fetish with the brilliant 1000RR), but due to it's choice bits and exclusivity, it's only a matter of time before the value goes way up. For the Boxer fan it is the ultimate. As a superbike it is very unique and will encourage to you confidently ride beyond what you thought possible. I bought this bike for $16k from the second owner: a 55 year old ex-racer with his own local shop for classic motorbikes who also proclaimed this the best bike he had ridden. He bought the bike in '09 with 200 miles on it from an Ohio businessman who'd lost his business. It had 16k miles on it when I bought it and improved it. I am selling it at a slight loss. If you are serious about buying this bike for yourself--not as an agent--call me, Michael, at 707-447-2982 from 9-9pm PST only, and I will be happy to answer any questions.Ride it a few years and then sell at a profit if you wish.
