Vehicle Detail

Helsinki model in Dakota Beige and Sage Green interior. original dash-mounted VDO clock. Mileage unknown. Manufactured in 11/78. Clear title, although it is a replacement title. No leins. This is a van that is mechanically sound. 2 litre flat four engine is strong and doesn't smoke. Great compression. Heads rebuilt about 2,000 miles ago. New in box driveshafts included. Starts great on new starter. Transmission shifts smoothly with no noise. Clutch is in excellent shape. Tires are worn. Newer Optima Red Top starting battery, Yellow Top Optima Accessory battery. New brake system, new plumbing and fixtures, led lighting provided, but not installed. The wiring has largely been replaced, although it is a haywire looking tangle. It is safe and all circuits are fused and safe. Auxiliary on/off switch and starting button. There is a problem with the charging system. Starts and runs great, no smoke at all. When lights are switched on, battery drains. Original fuel injection was replaced by a Weber 32/36 carburetor. Sale includes a nearly-new Weber 32/36 carburetor, uninstalled. Camping equipment for this van is all in excellent shape. Fabric is unworn and unfaded. However, the driver's seat shows wear and fading. The passenger's seat also shows fading, but is not torn. Front swivel seat works very well, and the sliding door works great. Top raises and lowers fine, top bunk is in excellent shape. Canvas needs replacing. Fiberglass top needs repainting. Stove works, as does the sink and faucet. New faucet and water hose plumbing and outside fixtures. Charging panel is present, but non-working. Body is rough in places: rear lower sheetmetal needs to be replaced, main floor should be replaced, driver's and passenger's floorboards should be replaced. Bottom of doors need to have rust repair. This van has a lot of history and is a two-owner vehicle. The original owner, Dennis B, traveled all over the U.S. Canada, and Mexico in it. I inherited it upon his death. This is a proud van. This is a great restoration project. I have used it as a daily driver for 5 years. Reliable when charging system is working. Windshield has hazing but no cracks. Window rubbers all around need to be replaced, although there is no leakage. Full payment is due within 72 hours of close of auction. Paypal accepted. Money Orders and Cashier's checks accepted. Buyer is responsible for arranging and paying for all shipping costs from Little Rock, AR 72210. Cannot deliver myself.
