Vehicle Detail

This auction is for a Special Hand built 1931 Ford Roadster Pickup. This pickup started with a 1931 Brookville cowl and stock floor pan and 4 door skins from Brookville, two on each side, and all handmade inner door structures which were built using a shrinker and stretcher to get the compound curve at the rear door opening. The frame is also hand built starting with a 40 inch frame horn from American Stamping Corporation and the rest of the rails were fabricated from sheet steel and various sizes of dimensional tubing for cross members. A model A cross member sits up front and holds the Posies chrome leaf springs mounted behind the Super Bell drilled axle. Pete & Jakes Viper Hair Pins keep everything aligned. Mounting the spring behind the axle gets the truck much lower but required a lot of frame modification, like notching the rails, lengthening the steering arms and mounting the spring perches to the batwings and also raising the motor mounts to keep the motor from rubbing the pavement. At the back of the truck, a 1948 GE refrigerator was widened 10" to make up the rounded pickup box (IT REALLY LOOKS COOL!!!!). The bed floor is teak, and the interior of the fridge is leather, which houses a 16 gallon fuel tank. 1/2 inch square tubing frames the tonneau cover and removable top, both covered by Harts Cloth. Underneath the fridge is a Polished Winters V-8 Quickchange rear end ($$$) with 3.73 gears and 31 splined axles. Rear springs are again Pete & Jakes Viper coil over shocks connected by Pete & Jakes ladder bars. Both front and rear spreader bars are hand built and have slight bends in them to follow the body lines. The wheels are American Racing Torque Thrust II (10X20-REAR) (8X17-FRONT) wrapped in BFG rubber. Polished rear drum covers fit over the 11" Ford drum brakes. Up front the truck stops with Super Bells Super Stopper Brakes with full polished finned aluminum backing plates. Ridetech front shocks help to provide a smooth ride ($$). The windshield frame was a rough aluminum casting from Ian Roussel out of California, which was fabricated smooth to eliminate the center divider. The cowl of the Brookville body had to be cut off and smoothed to accommodate the raked windshield frame. Handmade steel side panels have small stainless marine louvers installed at the bottoms, attached with tiny stainless button heads. A 2" longer Rootlieb hood, hand built hinges and latches cover the ex-police cruiser's 350 Chevy motor, hooked up to a 700R4 transmission. Block hugger headers connect to a 2 1/2" stainless exhaust quieted by Magnoflo Mufflers. Cooling is handled by a Walker Desert Cooler. Headlights are King Bees mounted to the '32 grill shell supplied by Vintique. The interior is made starting with a hand built wooden buck to give the seat the "laid back" feeling, covered in camel leather. German square weave carpet covers the floor. Classic Instruments Wings Quad gauges fit into the '32 dash. A painted aluminum console houses the Lokar shifter. A custom aluminum column drop holds the Ididit tilt column. Steering is handled with a Juliano's Banjo steering wheel, connected to a Flaming River Vega gearbox, which all works and handles PERFECTLY! The truck is covered in DuPont products, and the color is Sunset Effect base coat, clear coat. (THE UNDERSIDE IS AS CLEAN AS THE TOP SIDE!!!) *DISCLAIMER: TRUCK IS BEING SOLD "AS IS WHERE IS!" The soft top comes completely off, but does not fold The truck is titled as a 1931 Ford truck and is not an assembled vehicle. It also has windows which match the top and are also removable.
