Vehicle Detail

I purchased this amazing little car through eBay in 2007. The following is the description as it appeared in the eBay listing when I purchased it in 2007. Please continue reading the entire description so you fully understand the current description of the vehicle and what has been done to it since I purchased it. NOTE; What you are about to read is the vehicle description as advertised in the eBay listing in which I purchased the vehicle in 2007 intended to give you a little background on the vehicle. 1970 VW Karmann Ghia 13,500 original miles!!! 1 owner car!!!Hard to believe these nice LOW mileage collector cars are still out there. This little beauty has all its original equipment except dealer repairs, including the original TIRES! Which are not rotted or cracked and hold air well. Other than a repaint it is a true survivor. All other original documents including: bill of sale, window sticker, warranty manual, dealer warranty card and maintenance records are here! And the car has all the factory option you could get! You won't find a nicer more rare KG than this one with all its original paperwork. Body: Nice. No rust or dents or scrapes or gouges. Nice new 2-stage paint. Bumpers nice for driver, but should be rechromed for points showing. Interior: Immaculate. Leatherette seating, rear defog, heater works, electric clock, everything works even the radio. Drivetrain: 1.6L with 4spd trans. Runs and drives good. Has original front disc brakes too! The window sticker reads ... 1. Front disc brakes 2. Heater 3. Defroster 4. Leatherette upholstery 5. Electric clock 6. Day/Night mirror 7. Rear defogger 8. Steering wheel lock 9. Bucket front seats 10. Folding rear seat 11. 4-Spd12. 5 White sidewall tires This car is for the serious VW KG owner. We reserve the right to end the auction early as the car is for sale locally. Now For the Current Description: 1970 VW KARMANN GHIA 13,799 ORIGINAL MILES 2nd OWNER Up for auction is this beautiful 1970 Karmann Ghia with 13,799 original miles! I am the second owner. The car was originally purchased by a lady at Evergreen Volkswagen in Oak Lawn Illinois and was serviced a few times at Des Plaines Volkswagen Inc. Des Plaines Illinois. I have the original window sticker from the dealer, her original title with the state of Illinois, a couple repair invoices for services she had done at Des Plaines Volkswagen showing the mileage at the time and the most recent service/repair invoice dated 1998 from (Tacc's American-Inter auto repair foreign and domestic) showing the mileage at that time at 12,000 miles. All documentation mentioned in the original description from 2007 will be included in the auction along with any documentation I have acquired since I took possession of the car Including receipts for any services I have had done which includes an invoice for Galion foreign car service for new front calipers, brakes and brake hoses that I had put on shortly after I bought the car in 2007 and an invoice from the one and only Motorkars in Columbus Ohio from August of this year for service and inspection of the vehicle. I will list those services and results of their inspection at the end of this description. Other than having new front brakes, calipers, and brake lines installed right after I acquired the car in 2007 and the brake line replacement and service that Motorkars performed earlier this month the only issue I've had was a dead battery which was replaced new in June of this year. I also have a new spark plugs and a fuel filter for the car that I've not needed yet but you are welcome to them. The car is just wonderful and fun to drive and gets glances and comments everywhere you go. Just looking at it takes you back to simpler times! The car runs, shifts and drives great! And looks awesome inside and out. There are a few rust spots starting to come through but the car is overall very solid. Bumpers have some pitting. Floorpans are in good condition not rusted out. Interior is near mint condition with the exception of a crack in the vinyl cover on the dash and glove box door as seen in pictures. This car is in awesome shape for a 45 year old classic, great for any collector, someone who longs for a great car from yesteryear or someone who wants to take a great classic VW to the next level. If you're looking at this then you probably know these cars have increased tremendously in value since the first of the year, get this sweet low mileage ride and make a great investment! The following service and inspection was performed August of this year by Motorkars in Columbus Ohio Adjusted fan belt tension, Grease front axle beam, replace right rear hard brake line and bleeder valve, bleed air from system and recheck - ok, install correct brake fluid reservoir cap, safety inspection, Lube door locks, latches and handles, road test and check, Horn – OK, wiper blades – fair, washer system – OK, washer fluid – OK, exterior and interior lights – OK, brake fluid level - OK condition new, manual transmission/differential oil - OK, front tire tread depth left – 6/32, right – 8/32, rear left-7/32, right 7/32, Front shocks – poor, rear shocks –poor, suspension system – fair, wheel bearings – OK, CV boots – OK, steering components – OK, brake pads – front 99% rear 50%, braking system – OK now, exhaust – OK, belts – fair, hoses – OK, engine cooling system – OK, engine seals and gaskets – OK, ignition parts - OK, body integrity - OK, floor pan integrity - OK Note: Motorkars owner estimated the current paint job was done approximately 20 years ago considering the color used and type of paint
