Up for auction is a 1938 Rolls-Royce Wraith VIN # WXA 53492 Produced from 1938-1939Rippon built only 15 bodies on Wraith chassisThe name Rippon must have a longer association with coachbuilding than any other in the industry, as Walter Rippon built a coach for the Earl of Rutland in 1555 and one for Queen Elizabeth I in 1564. Bodybuilding for motor cars started in 1905 when a two-seater body was mounted on a two-cylinder Rolls-Royce chassis.As you can see in the pictures this car has great lines and has a different set-up in the rear seating area, only one jump and the other is a writing table. It has an electric glass division that separates the driver from the passengers. On each of the rear quarter windows there is a shade that can be pulled forward to give the passengers more privacy. It even has a radio.The person that owned the car before me owned it since 1953 (I had it about 10 years or so). I bought the car not running and have made no attempt to start it.
