1972 Volkswagon Westfila camper with a surfer van theme , this is a no reserve sale the last bidder will win it. I am confident it will bring a price I can live with. This van was just completed this week , decided to go with the surfer theme because the interior fabric was redone before I got it and I really don't like the restored look as much as the cool look. The best way to describe this great looking van is to do a complete walk around it with starting in the front so here goes, the VW badge in the front is real stainless steel not plastic, replaced the water squirters, windshield wipers nuts and caps all hardware, the windshield and gasket are brand new, installed new headlight rings , replace the front turn signals and gaskets ,the front bumper is a perfect custom made heavy duty bumper with tow bar tabs or use for other things, notice the way cool custom made front bumper top it is made to look like a old surf board and has 2 heavy coats or special polymer resin almost perfect glass like pour has 2 cool decals lamimated into it. The drivers side features new mirror and gasket, door handle gaskets, and new side marker, the left side of the body is almost glass like shows almost perfect workmanship. Oh buy the way the paint is done with the best Du Pont paint at 3 times the cost of cheaper paint, painter conviniced me it was worth it as far as quality and lasting compare to cheaper paint. The rear side marker is new. the rear hatch has new weather strip and well as the engine compartment , when engine was pulled for the new clutch the motor bay was detailed and a new engine seal installed and both locks have new gaskets, has real wood surfboard like stripped bumper top also polymered, the custom made bumper is very heavy duty and has a ball mount and is set up with a 4 wire trailer plug so you can be towed behind a RV or you can pull a small trailer ect. the tail lights are new, the right side has new markers front and rear and sliding door seal is new, I should have spent another few hours on the right corner repair panel as it does have a wave that you can see if you look down the side, new mirror and door handle gaskets, both front doors have new weather strips, the foot wells look great spent time making them look better than factory, NOW to the inside (we will get to the drivetrain at the end of the walkaround) the van has new door panels with custom made miniature wood surfer boards for arm rests on both sides also the gas pedal is a surfboard with again the polymer coating and they look great in there smooth as glass look. The door panels are new but I did have a mounting mistake drilling small holes that didn't work will have the small holes repaired before delivery. The carpet is new and is a basket weave like the seat material and color match to seats is super, also trimmed out with aluminum on all seams. The seats and Z bed have just been recovered and are in really great shape no problems, the windows have bamboo shades and small bamboo wall treatment, I have the stock table that you will get but I like it better not installed , the walls look better without the table there, maybe you could use tv trays ect. the canvas it new on the pop top which works perfect. The underneath is very clean with no know problems no rust out anywhere the wheel wells and all suspension parts have been painted and detailed out, undercoated completely. OK now the engine ect. the motor was rebuilt by a very reputable garage and has less than 2,500 miles since rebuild , the 3 rib Volkswagon transmission jumped out of 4 th. gear once in a while after talking it over with the Volkswagon specicalist I decided to have it completely rebuilt but the appointment is for 2 days after sale ends so it will have no miles on the trans or clutch, has a single 2 barrel carb, brand new clutch assembly was installed . The carburetor was rebuilt as well. You will have pretty much a new drive system. This van starts and runs great with no weird noises. The dash has new heater controls and a nice 8 speaker stereo system with an amp under the rear seat , I did not reinstall the front speakers in the new door panels but comes with the speakers and will mark where the cut out is on the door if you want them there . There is a complete color matching spare tire and stock jack setup. This van will go to the beach surfing, camping, cruising car shows or just be great daily driver. What I would do if I were to have it is maybe a 5 inch drop and tinted glass, the drop you can investigate how to with dropped spindles and rear plates not very expensive to do , that will really make this van look more cool. Hey how about adding a few more decals to the glass and your board on the top. So that's the story i. So have the coolest VW Bus at the beach , and another great thing about this van is , you know what it will always be worth what it sells for today because this for sure just go up in value , plus it is pretty much new , the wool surfer lettermans jacket is included as a steering wheel cover when parked to cover the ugly stock wheel or have a small jacket that's so cool, so get that money out of that 1% saving account and live a little, great fun for the whole family ect.
