Vehicle Detail

Up for bid is a 1967 Chrysler Newport 2 door Convertible This Chrysler Newport has been setting for around untouched for 10 years and most of the problems with the car are related to that, like the tires, the tires are practically brand new but have just been sitting there basically just holding the car up. Mechanically the vehicle is pretty good, the engine is a 1968 440 cu.in V-8 with a 4bbl carburetor and runs smooth, and does not smoke, the 727 Automatic transmission shifts smooth, the breaks need to be gone over, everything is in place but the wheel cylinders and master cylinder really should be replaced, as well as the shoes due to the vehicle setting so long. The exhaust system needs work, again, everything is in place but needs to be gone over. The most obvious problem is a leak around the manifold and it appears that the gaskets need replacing. The electrical system is all there and hooked up, it just needs to be put in place when the interior is re-installed. The car does have Air Conditioning but the system need to be re-charged. The Hood has a rather bad spot on it, but not to worry, there is a almost perfect extra hood that will be going with this car. The title states the millage as 51,123 The speedometer reads 24,093 so one would assume the actual millage is 124,093 There are soft spots over the driver's side rear wheel well that haven't penetrated the paint the right has been repaired but the left side still need to be worked on to prevent it from getting worse. The interior of the vehicle has been removed so the floor pans could be replaced. The old floors were cut out and professionally replaced The bucket seats and rear seat are in good condition with no major rips or tears the front passenger seat is missing the rear panel, but other than being dirty are in good shape ***The Convertible Top *** The convertible top material is in bad shape and needs to be recovered, The rear window is glass and in great shape as well as everything involving the lift operating mechanisms which all work great. ALL the glass on the car is in very good condition, no cracks, chips, or smoking the rear passenger window still has the factory Airtemp Air Conditioning decal *** The Trunk *** The Trunk pan has also been professionally removed and replaced and is now in very sound condition. *** The Engine *** The original 383 was pulled and replaced with the big brute 440...why? MORE POWER! OH yea, by the way the rear end is Posi-Traction (and this baby can smoke the hell out of some tires and leave some really dark No.11's) The undercarriage has the same problem with sitting for so long, the shocks and bushings need to be looked over to make sure they are sound they all appear to be in good shape. everything else seems to be great There is a very minimal amount of rust on the underside of the driver side door the rocker panels appear to be clear. but, there is a rather pesky rust spot at the bottom of the passenger side door All of the interior panels and bits are there the only thing missing are both of the hydraulic covers that cover the convertible top mechs. Overall with a vehicle that is this old, the condition is pretty good and would make a great project car, it will just take some work getting it back to its original beauty, but when completed WOW what a beauty this would be... or you could go over the engine, replace the brakes, fix the exhaust, recover the top, re-install the interior and driver her like she is. But always Also, if you need an extra.
