I ordered the truck new on May 21, 1968 and took delivery on July 31, 1968. I ordered it with limited slip differential, clock, AM Radio, remote control outside mirror and P.S. 390, 4 speed, but when it came in it was a 302 automatic but I took it anyways. Candy Apple red exterior and maroon interior. Wheels were upgraded later but have original wheels and hubcaps, buyer's choice. Truck has duals, air shocks, FM converter and toneau cover. Box has been covered since new. No dents or rust in box. The only rust on the exterior is a small place above the left tail pipe where a kid backed into the quarter and the Ford dealership repaired it. The paint is all original except for the rocker panels which had some stone chips and the area that was bent. The whole repair cost $250 in the early 1970's. The truck runs as it did when new. It uses no oil and the valve covers have never been off of it. Oil and filter changed every 2,500 miles since new. Have all records and original papers and shop manual. The 1968 and 1969 Rancheros were the only two years to use the Fairlane Convertible doors. Since it was 7 years old we have enjoyed it for shows and cruises.
