2002 Aston Martin DB7 Vantage V12 Paint to Sample in Ferrari’s Argento Nurburgring 2002 Aston Martin DB7 Vantage V12VIN: SCFAB22342K303132Color: Argento Nurburgring (Silver - Ferrari color, custom ordered from AM Factory)Interior: Pacific Blue LeatherMileage: 41,143 miles DB7 V12 Vantage(1999 - 2003)4,444 V12 Vantage Built (Excluding Zagato models) At long last, after a wait of six years, the Vantage version of the DB7 was unveiled at the 1999 Geneva Motor Show. Restyled by the original designer, Ian Callum, the exquisite poise of the DB7 was transformed with 'beefed up' flanks, new sills, larger nose air intake with revised grill and lights plus a new rear bumper. Under the surface, the chassis was 'beefed up' too and featured completely new front and rear suspension. Up until then, the Vantage derivative of an Aston Martin car has featured a tuned version of the standard engine; for the first time ever, the DB7 Vantage had a brand new engine and was significantly different from the inline-6 car. And what an engine - 6.0 litres of it - the first ever production Aston Martin to be fitted with a V12. The DB7 was engineered in Kidlington, Oxfordshire, by Tom Walkinshaw Racing on behalf of Aston Martin. The engines continued to be built in Kidlington during the production run of the vehicle. For the DB7 Vantage, the 5.9 litre, 48 valve, all-alloy, 60º V12 engine delivered 420 bhp and 400lbs ft of torque. It has a compression ratio of 10.3:1. Developed in close co-operation with the Ford Research and Vehicle Technology Group and Cosworth Technology, the V12 was designed to operate at a maximum speed of 7000rpm, features four valves per cylinder, twin overhead camshafts for each bank of cylinders and a sophisticated Visteon electronic management system. To cope with the massive increase in power, much of the chassis and suspension was extensively modified together with larger Brembo brakes. A new factory was acquired at Bloxham, Oxfordshire that had previously been used to produce the Jaguar XJ220, where every DB7 would be built throughout its production run. The DB7 and its relatives were the only Aston Martins produced in Bloxham and is the only one with a steel unit construction inherited from Jaguar. In 1999, the more powerful DB7 V12 Vantage was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show.Initially the car was available with either a six speed close ratio manual transmission (184 mph top speed, 0 to 60 mph in 5.0 seconds) or a five speed automatic (limited to 165 mph top speed, 0 to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds). The system has two transmission modes available to the Vantage driver. As well as a standard ‘automatic’ mode there is also a ‘sports’ mode where up changes were made at higher engine speeds. New cooling requirements meant wider radiator openings and justified the new bright metal grille while new bumpers and integrated sill design blended in the other subtle external differences. Inside the car was standard Aston Martin luxury with Connolly hide, Kenwood car stereo and the introduction of a large red starter button mounted in the centre console. —— This 2002 Aston Martin DB7 Vantage look brilliant in the custom ordered Ferrari color, Argento Nurburgring, over a very classic and sporty Pacific Blue Connolly leather interior. It is currently showing very low mileage at just over 45,000 since purchased new thirteen years ago. CarFax/CarProof records indicate this DB7 Vantage was sold new in Orland Park, Illinois on November 21st, 2002. The first owner serviced the car in 2004 at Lake Forest Sportscars in Lake Bluff, IL at 2,635 miles. It was traded in on January 22nd, 2005 at Bentley Downers, in Downers IL. at 5,244 miles. They serviced the car and sold it in June of 2005 to a Californian buyer. The DB7 remained in Costa Mesa/Newport Beach area for four years. During this time it was serviced at Land Rover of Newport Beach. An accident was reported to Police in California with an estimate of over $750 in repairs sometime between Nov. 2007 and Nov. 2008. In 2009 it was sold to a buyer in Florida then imported to Canada by that owner in 2010. He traded it in to a dealership in Ottawa and now we have it for sale here in Victoria, BC. Cosmetically the car presents very well. There are very few rock chips and only a couple of very small scratches in the paint. There appear to be no leaks and the car runs exceptionally well. Transmission shifts as it should. Acceleration is very smooth and fast. The cooling system works and temperature stays constant, even in traffic. The interior shows very little signs of wear and feels almost like new. Tire tread is excellent and the rims show no signs of scuffing whatsoever. Overall, this is a very good driving Aston Martin DB7 Vantage. Of the first generation DB7, this is the nicest looking model and best performing model. It gets a fair bit of attention driving around as the model was relatively rare. Engine sound is fantastic and the driving experience is sporty if you put your foot into it. If you are looking for an Aston Martin, these cars are very big bang for the buck. We’ve never seen another in Nurburgring Silver and think this is what sets this car apart from all the other DB7s out there. It’s a beautiful, high performance late-model sports car.
