Vehicle Detail

Rare opportunity to pick up one of perhaps 5 round nose Flexits in the USA. Flexits are the most sought after of modern leaning sidecars, and the round nose, with its more contempporary styling (well, OK, in the nineties it was contemporary) and stronger canopy design as well as other featires is the one to have. I personally imported this one from Holland and mated it to the K1100 you see, using the OEM mounting kit. This is more imortant than it might seem - leaning sidecars have very simple mounts, but they need to be very well engineered in order to work properly. The sidecar is a 1997 model Flexit, originally attached at the factory to a K1100LT; I bought from the factory that built/sold the original outfit. You can read a lot about them on the Yahoo Flexit sidecar site and on the web; it uses a dual chain linkage to allow the chair to lean at the same angle as the motorcycle. Handling is a little slower than the stock bike, but surprisingly nimble, especially at higher speeds - 70-80 miles per hour and more. The chair also has a lockout to keep the bike stable at low speeds driving around the parking lot. Additions to the chair include a digital pressure control system to adjust for varying weights in the sidecar, bracing for the rear suspension, and more; the power canopy operates internally by the passenger, from the motorcycle, and also via wireless keyfob remote. The sidecar is very sturdy, and has a full seatbelt system. OEM versions in Europe were also made with child seats; this is possibly the safest sidecar you could find for carrying a child in a child seat. If this is what you're considering, contact me and we can discuss. Unfortunately, the semi reclined seating arrangement isn't as good for large dogs, one of the reasons I've decided to sell it - my 75 lb poodle likes the standard outfit more. The K1100 has had a few changes to work better with the sidecar. The springs are heavy duty, and shimmed to work well with a 180-220 lb driver and the chair. There is a K1 steering damper. Rear spring is a Hyperco. ABS is removed, and the front and sidecar wheels have stainless brake lines. The handlebars are off of a K100LT; the longer bars fit well, and are more comfortable; combined with the the custom Russel Daylong seat you can ride this for hours with ease. There is a larger windshield that velcros on top of the standard windshield for colder days, and heated grips.
