Vehicle Detail

1978 Jeep Wagoneer. This is a rare Z-code model that has the factory 401 V-8 engine (6.6 liter). They made a lot of Wagoneers in 1978 but not many with the 401. I bought this Jeep to restore, but I do not have time to finish the project. The Jeep runs and drives excellent and I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. It is an 3-speed automatic and full time four wheel drive. Here's the good:The 401 V-8 was professionally rebuilt by Texon motor center in Houston, Texas in December of 2013. The engine was balanced and everything was replaced. I also had the heads ported and polished. The factory 4bbl and manifold was replaced with an Edelbrock performer aluminium model. It also has an Edelbrock performer camshaft and lifters, and an Edelbrock carburetor. It has been driven less than 2,000 miles since the total engine rebuild. Also replaced were the starter, alternator, coil, and ignition module. The motor is solid as a rock, makes lots of power and runs very, very well. Much better than stock. The cost to rebuild the motor and add the parts was over $5,000.00. The transmission is a GM Turbo 400. After the motor was rebuilt, I had the transmission rebuilt by AAMCO in Houston, Texas in January of 2014. The transmission is solid as a rock and shifts well. The transmission rebuild was $1500.00. The exhaust from the manifolds back was replaced in March of 2014. It has dual exhaust with chrome tips. The Jeep sounds awesome. It will start right up every time. It has the Quadra Trac 4WD system. It is all time 4 wheel drive. It has a two speed transfer case for high and low that is under the driver's seat. When it is in low it will climb a mountain. Mechanically the Jeep runs and drives excellent and the drive-train is in excellent shape. The rear gate works, and it has a power rear window that works fine. The rest of the windows are manual. It has a heater that works great, as does the defroster. Here's the bad: The body is in rough shape. It has chipping and scratches. It also has a lot of rust. The driver's side front fender is damaged. The "wood" panel on the front passenger side is missing. It has a AM/FM/CB radio. While it has the factory AMC CB it does not work. The radio does not work. When I drive it I use a Garmin so I can tell my speed. It needs lots of little things, like a couple of lens covers for the parking lights, it needs a new windshield washer arms, one is held together with tape. They work, but not great. These little parts are not available at the parts store, you'll have to get them second hand. The turn signal arm broke from the steering wheel column. The turn signals work but you have to hold the arm up to the column to turn them on and off. All the doors lock, but only the passengeer door key is operational. So when you lock it up, you have to open the passenger door first. The interior is in fair shape. The driver's seat is pretty rough, the rest of the seats are better. The speedometer and odometer does not work. The A/C does not work. It is all there, and the compressor is hooked up, but it needs to be converted to 134a. The cruise control does not work. Overall the Jeep is mechanically excellent, but cosmetically it needs work. It is registered and titled in Oklahoma and I have the clear title in hand. The tags are good until December 2016. All the lights and turn signals all work. The Jeep is sold AS IS with no warranty express or implied. These old Wagoneers are HEAVY. The GVW is 6200 pounds! If you plan to pick it up with a trailer plan accordingly. It weighs more than most half ton pickups. Or you can drive it. I would drive it anywhere it runs excellent. Shipping is not available, you will need to arrange your own shipping. Feel free to come and look at it. It is located in Pearland, Texas (a suburb of Houston, Texas). The closest airport is Houston, Hobby. It is being offer at NO RESERVE. High bidder gets it. Deposit of $500.00 due within 48 hours of auction end and balance due in 7 days of close of auction.
