Vehicle Detail

Hello!! This auction is for my completely awesome 1969 International Harvester 1200D truck. I do not really want to sell this one, but I am moving soon to a home with less space and need to clear up some space. I am the second owner of this truck, the first was a construction company in northern Iowa. It sat for quite a few years in Des Moines IA, but after a small amount of tinkering I drove it to my home in Stuart, about a 40 mile trip with no problems at all. If it sits for a while it needs some starting fluid to get started and is very cold blooded, but once warmed up it runs out nicely. It is an old work truck though, so do not expect Cadillac refinement! These Internationals are very strongly built, and my intention was to put a flatbed on this one and clean up the body a bit. As the pictures show, the body on this one is not all rusted to pieces, but does need some work. The floorpans are solid though, I will see if I can get some pictures of them and add to the auction. The Service Box on it is a bit beat, I was going to scrap it, but it could be used/brought back. The truck is a V8 (pretty sure it is a 345, but might be a 392) and has an automatic transmission. The transmission shifts fine, and the rear end does not make any bad noises when going down the road. The brakes will need work, sometimes when I start it I get a 'brake failure' light, but the brakes do work. I think it might be a vacuum issue but have not looked into it too far as I have had the vehicle in storage. The dash pad is good, but not perfect and the truck does still retain it's original International Harvester fire extinguisher, which is often missing. (prob worth a bit by itself!) This is being sold as-is as a project. If you have any other questions please let me know. Thanks! On Jul-06-15 at 00:40:01 PDT, seller added the following information: ************ Hello all! I have had several people ask me if the truck runs and drives and if it can be driven long distances. Yes, the truck does run and drive, but it is a project vehicle and I would recommend trailering it, especially for long distances. It made the trip from Des Moines to Stuart OK (was about 40 miles) but there are three main issues that would prevent me from wanting to do a long trip. 1) The carb is very temperamental, especially when cold. Not sure how it would react to a long trip. 2) The tires on it are not the best. They hold air but are very old, I have puttered around Stuart OK, but would not want to rely on them for a cross country trip! 3) The 'Brake Failure' light does come on. I believe that it is possibly a vacuum line issue but have not looked into it much as the truck has been in storage since I obtained it. The brakes do work, but again, that failure light does come on. I do have complete faith in the engine/transmission/rear end though, however, they seem rock solid. Secondly, have had some questions about the cab on the truck, the glass is all good, there are one or two rock chips in the windshield but they should be fixable, it is not cracked. Also, I am not able to find any rust above the windshield, it all looks OK to me. Thanks! Matt K *****************
