[More pictures to come] 1989 Ford Mustang LX 5.0L V8 ConvertibleThis auction is for a 1989 Mustang LX 5.0 convertible (“25th Anniversary Edition”) with automatic transmission and less than 86,000 miles on the odometer. I am the second owner and have owned the car since 1991. Since then, it has been responsibly/adult driven, has not been in any accidents, and has been consistently maintained. For many years, this Mustang has been my “summer” car only, and I have put less than 8,000 miles on it in the last 10 years. I have several cars and it’s time to sell. Since this one does not get a lot of use, it is now up for sale. This car runs well and can be driven / enjoyed immediately. (For Virginia residents: the car is safety-inspected in Virginia through April 2016. It is now exempt from Virginia emissions tests but never had any problems passing them.) There are a few items that will need to be addressed over time (see below), but with those, I can see it going for years to come. Overall, the exterior is in good condition. The paint on the main body is strong and can be buffed to a great shine (the car is kept covered). There are a few dings (pictures can be supplied), and the paint is more faded on plastic parts (for instance around the headlights) and the rear bumper paint has been touched up to address sun damage on non-metal (plastic) parts. Interior: The original leather seats have been re-covered with custom-fit grey leatherette seat covers (manufactured by Cover King). The seat covers are in very good shape. All plastic / vinyl trim is clean. The radio is an after-market Panasonic CD/cassette stereo with a 6-CD changer installed in the trunk. The motor is strong, starts easily and runs smoothly. The battery, alternator and serpentine belt are new. The two main items that would require attention in the near term are the convertible top and the tires. The power top is fully functional, but it is sixteen years old and will need to be replaced at some point. It has three tears, one in the roof and two below the rear window (pictures can be supplied). The tires have about 16,000 miles on them. Three are in good shape, but one has advanced wear (pictures can be supplied) which will need to be addressed at some point. Other items that could be addressed but could also be ignored for the time being:o The A/C has not been charged for some time. I have never attempted to recharge it, so I don't know if a recharge would hold or if additional work would be required.o The left rear power window mechanism was replaced some time ao. More recently, the right rear failed. Since the motor works and the window lifts and retracts with manual assist, I have not bothered to replace this one.o The power door locks don't work.o The brake pedal pulses - may need work on front right brake rotor.Because this listing is for a used car in "as is" condition, I have tried to list all the issues that I know of, in order to give a complete picture. Again, I have owned the car for over 20 years and it is in generally good shape. It will be up to the new owner how much or little they want to invest in this car – it can be happily driven immediately and the other issues can be addressed over time. Clean title goes without saying. I even have the original manuals and sticker, for those who are interested. Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions, and happy bidding! I can't delete it, apparently, nor can I change the order of the pictures once uploaded.
