Vehicle Detail
Up for auction at NO RESERVE is my custom BMW airhead. If you are looking for something cool and different, this could be for you! This bike left Germany as an R60/6 but early in it's life it was professionally increased in displacement to 900cc by using heads, pistons, cylinders, crank, cam, from an R90S. Carbs are 32mm Bings. This work was professionally accomplished by a former BMW dealer owner and master tech; the late great Que Freyer of Triumph/BMW of Thornwood, NY. While apart, the flywheel was lightened as well. This combination of displacement and lightened rotating mass, as well as the 33/11 rear drive gearing allows this bike to pull quickly and HARD! If you're used to airhead BMW's, you will be AMAZED at how quick and powerful this bike is, while still retaining the classic BMW ride quality. The seat is a custom Corbin, low cut which is great for folks with shorter inseams, yet comfortable for taller riders too, the handlebars are from an RS, mufflers are Dunstall types. This bike growls in a very nice way. The tank is /6, all other "tins" are genuine BMW from an R90S, and custom painted in the classic Silver Smoke. Pinstripes are hand painted. Rear sets are adjustable Tarozzi. Everything works, except the odometer. It's like every other /6; it stopped working at about 26,000 miles. I believe the bike has about 35,000 miles on it now. Bags are Krausers. I don't have the keys for them, the locks are unlocked. One sticks a bit, and the bags have some stress cracks in the typical Krauser locations. Nothing bad, the bags are quite usable as is. Bodywork paint is nice, no cracks or scratches, no dents. Frame paint has aged but still looks good. This bike has been ridden, and is 40 years old, so expect some aging, chips, and other normal wear. Beautiful bike that runs great, starts right up, doesn't smoke, turns heads everywhere. Well cared for, regularly maintained (by me), and loved throughout it's life. NO RESERVE, bid to own it. Checks must clear my bank before I hand over the keys. Cash and carry works for me. Hate to let it go, but it's time for someone else to enjoy this magnificent machine. Thanks for looking, and good luck! Contact me via eBay to make an appointment to come see the bike.
