It represents the big shift from the engine-as-frame design of the K100/K1100 bikes to the new space frame design, allowing the engine to be suspended and damped. This nearly eliminated the transmission of engine vibration to the rider and makes for a glassy smooth, more comfortable, and less fatiguing ride. This very bike was one of the first of its design to leave Germany for North America in 1997 (the ’98 model year). It was imported to the States after purchase from a dealer in Ontario, Canada well before these motorcycles were released in the U.S.A. It still retains it’s speedo and odo in kilometers (don’t worry, no problem with street legality in the States). We believe this was the first K1200RS to be owned in the United States. This K1200RS comes with an anti-dive front suspension yoke, allowing the rider to fully utilize the powerful front brake during a laid-over turn without shortening the wheel base or changing the turning radius. It is also equipped with second generation antilock brakes (ABS II) for no-skid stop-on-a-dime performance. Very, very low miles or KM as this bike show kilometers not Miles Excellent, nearly unused Z-rated tires (I’ve forgotten the model) Extras: Integrated, quick-release, lockable hard-cases Aftermarket detachable tank bag with map window for touring Kryptonite wheel lock Custom-built aftermarket detachable back rest for passenger (upholstery matches the stock saddle) With all add-ons hanging, this bike is the slickest, most nimble, yet comfortable, touring motorcycle you could ask for. Cleaned off, it’s a sport bike fast enough to give your neck muscles a workout keeping your head stuck on. You can be a laser beam on the Devil’s Highway or smoke the twistys at the Tail of the Dragon with this bike. No problem, the choice is yours. ATTENTION: since this description was written about this nearly flawless Bike it had a mishap in our possession, my now former employee while moving the bike cracked the throttle and took the bike into a wall and caused damage to the nose of the bike. Please look at the pictures, the front fork is broken, front wheel is broken, fork is bent, and headlight is cracked. other internal damage in the front suspension may be present but we are a car dealership not a BMW motorcycle dealer and do not have the time, know how or desire to fix `The bike does roll and the motor was not impacted in any way. Besides the front damage this bike runs great, sounds great, and was very well maintained and cared for. This was a one owner bike and was not laid down before this incident in our possession.
