Vehicle Detail

1971 Triumph Stag Automatic. The previous owner spent quite a bit of time and money with replacing the original engine to the sought after Rover 4.0 swap. He mentioned using "Monarch Stag" conversion. ? This car starts right up, and has a very steady idle, and maintains a steady rpm while stopping. The hood on the car does not have a scoop, it retains the original look. The car is a running, driving, currently registered car that can be enjoyed now. The title is a California title, without any issues. This is not a show car, but does look nice, and it now has a new paint job. This is what the previous owner had done before he gave me his car. Rover 4.0 Engine with an Automatic Transmission. ( Monarch Stag conversion with Holley carburetor.) 190 HP with the Rover 4.0 ( Very quick car.) Uprated aluminum radiator, with thermostat and front fan. ( Make a huge difference to keep the engine running cool, and costs about $500 with labor to install.) Replaced exhaust system with stainless exhaust. see photos. 4 new tires. ( Yokohama radials) See photo. Cd player with rear speakers. ( Sounds nice, but looks dirty.) Wire wheels are nice looking, but there are rusted spokes, so I would eventually replace these with new wheels.) Here is what I have done since I received this car. New Fuel Pump. Rebuilt Alternator. New engine mounts. Replaced the old visors with new visors from Rimmer Brothers ( matches the original. ) 2 new side mirrors ( Proper chrome , matching mirrors.) New Battery. Fluid change/ tune up. Repaired the turn signals. New paint and body work. Both front seats were completely reupholstered. They look great, and they look stock, with proper head rests. This car is currently insured, registered, licensed, and was last driven on May 2nd, 2015 Drives smooth and straight. The main photos were taken on April 28th, 2015. ( Not old photos.) I would either replace the bumpers, or have them re chromed. There are a couple of dents, and when up close you can see scratches and marks. ( I have a couple of replacement parts for the rear bumper that are nice that I will leave in the trunk.) There are rusted areas underneath the car. If I were to keep this car, I would eventually have this repaired. Some of the dash gauges should be replaced. The signals work. The RPM works. The Oil Pressure works. The Electric works. The Speed and the Fuel do not work. The cluster does not work. Like all old cars, there is always something to be done to the car to improve it. However, this car can be immediately driven, and enjoyed. You can drive it as is, or choose to improve what you want, when you want. The engine and transmission swap was done, so you don't have to figure it out, and experiment. The heavy lifting was done, and done well. Most of the converted Stags were done with the Rover engine. This car is being sold as is. This car is a running, legal, driving car. I drive it on the weekends. LAST DRIVEN on Saturday May 23rd. Took it for a nice Saturday drive. ( Not a basket case that has been sitting for 20 years.) Triumph Stag with Rover engine and Automatic Transmission. On May-25-15 at 17:48:03 PDT, seller added the following information: To answer an email. "What was done to the car / spent on the car within the last 3 months, by me" Paint and Body $2400 New Engine Mounts $225 ( parts & labor) New Visors $75.00 New Side Mirrors / $85.00 Fluids changed/ Carb adjust $130.00 New Fuel Pump $175 (Installed) Reupholstered both front seats $600.00 Repaired ignition and signals $150.00 Total spent in last 3 months. $3840.00
