Vehicle Detail
1964 Chevrolet Impala 409, 4 Speed ConvertibleThis 1964 Chevrolet Impala Convertible is a nice driver quality car great for cruising or local car shows. It has a 409 with 2 four barrel carburetors and a 4 speed manual transmission. It has power steering, power convertible top with boot, power brakes with disc up front. It has bucket seats and the center console. It has new steel wheels and tires with original 1964 SS Impala spinner type hubcaps. This is a VERY cool car that I am selling because of health reasons. The disc brake system, including power boost unit and master cylinder, calipers, wheel cylinders, lines, pads, and shoes are all new. The new 4 core radiator and new hoses keep everyhtng nice and cool even on the hottest days. The front end was all rebuilt including new inner and outer tie rods, new upper and lower ball joints, and new front end bushings. A previous owner replaced the floor pans with a new piece from Ecklers. The trunk pan is solid. The frame is a rust free rock solid unit. The 409 2 four barrel engine runs great with no smoke. The dual quad cars are very cold natured and take a few minutes to warm up. Once warmed up, it runs beautifully. The carburators were recently professionally rebuilt and tuned. The gas tank was recently dropped, cleaned and sealed, the entire fuel system has been cleaned. The ignition is a new Pertronix under cap electronic ignition unit for reliability. I was told that this motor is not original to the car, I have no information on the original motor. The 409 in the car is Block # 384422, from a 1964 passenger car. It is the same block used in all 409 passenger car applications in 1964 with the "X" embossed on the front of it. The heads are from a 340HP 409. The dual quad manifold is an original Chevrolet piece from 1964. From the website xframechevy; The car VIN # 41867c119301 decodes as this. First digit represents the year - 1964The Second and third digit represents the series - Impala V-8The fourth and fifth digits represent the body style - 2 door convertibleThe sixth letter represents the manufacturing plant - Doraville, GAThe last six digits represent the production sequence number, starting at 100001The cowl tag 64-1867 decodes as this; 1958-1964 2-Door Convertible Impala This car is NOT an original SS car. The SS trim package has been added. The car needs a few things to take it to the next level. The passenger side exhaust has a minor leak at the donut where the head pipe attaches (I have the piece to fix it, it goes with the car)The are two chips in the windshield about the size of a dime, both should be fixable. The drivers side door lock cylinder needs to be replaced. The windows need to be adjusted (they go up and down fine, but the stop points are a tad off)This is a very nice driver quality car. The paint has good shine and the trim looks good. It is a nice "10 footer". The hood and fenders all look rust free. The rear quarters do have some body filler in them. They are solid and not bubbling or cracking. The interior is nice driver quality, the factory column tach works perfectly as do the blinkers, headlights, gas gauge and idiot lights. The car comes with a lot of new parts that I just can't put on due to health problems. These include;New IDIDIT Black powder coated tilt steering column.New smaller diameter Walnut Steering wheelNew SS machine turned dash trim and lighter unitProfessionally restored original AM radioNew OEM type chrome valve covers and gaskets.New tail lights and lens assemblies (the originals are ok and work but do not look new) TERMS OF SALE:Please note that all sales are binding and FINAL.
