Vehicle Detail
1964 Mercury Comet Cyclone-- One owner for 45 years; Window sticker, lots of documentation and believable low 56k miles! Purchased new on September 5, 1964 in Bellevue Washington, this car was lovingly cared for by its same original owner for the next 45 years. This car has the original window sticker, along with the original bill of sale, repair records, original loan documents and registrations throughout the years. The original 289 4 BBl has never been out of the car. The original interior with normal wear remains with the sharp polar white exterior and the unique original headliner in very good condition. The car has had routine maintenance, an older paint job that looks fabulous but not perfect , and rechromed bumpers and terrific looking stainless. I have added Pertronics, a new 600 Holley carb, plugs, wires, distributor cap, fuel pump, water pump, belts, hoses, clamps, serviced the transmission and replaced the windshield with a new one. I recently added a monte- carlo bar to stiffen the ride in turns. I've taken the door panels off and made the mechanisms better than new with guides and adjustments. I replaced the valve covers and gaskets This is a super nice driver-quality car which won one of the top 30 "people's choice" awards at the Fast Cars and Freedom show in McLean. The car is straight with what I believe are all original panels with no patches evident anywhere, and the undercarriage is absolutely solid with only minor surface rust. Engine runs super strong and the three (3) speed automatic which was rebuilt and serviced over the years shifts perfectly. Even the original dash tachometer works. Please do not bid unless you have all the funds available to pay for it, and have the approvals you need to buy it. The car is sold as-is where-is. The car should be seen. I welcome you to view it, send a mechanic, appraiser, or other expert before you bid. I reserve the right to end the auction early for a local sale. The car is excellent for those who appreciate these one-year Cyclone body styles where only 7,554 were made and insist on an original 289 motor. This is a rare find! Serious only 617-592-0148 On May-09-15 at 10:56:18 PDT, seller added the following information: I’ve had a lot of calls and e mails about the Cyclone. Some are from as far away as California. Guys don’t want to have to send someone or come themselves in order to bid. Many have just bid. Some don't want to waste the time or money as they may not be high bidder, but think they like to own the car. So here’s the offer: The high bidder tomorrow must put up the $500 deposit in the required time. After that, you have 3 days to come see it yourself. Buy it or don’t buy it, I don’t care. Cancel for any reason or no reason. No hard feelings; no bad feedback. If you take a pass, all you are out is $500. I want the buyer of this car to be happy they bought it, and want to be fair. End of story. Good luck. Thanks for the calls and e mails.
