Before we start, I’m not some teenager looking to get rid of my current toy in search of something new to beat on. Also, I’m not some shade tree mechanic who found a junker Mustang, got it running, added some spit and polish and hope to make a few bucks by flipping it. I love this car. It’s mine… I bought her for myself and have babied her the entire time I’ve owned her. She was great when I bought her and she’s better now. This is not to say she’s perfect… she has her minor flaws. If you think you’re going to point out the minor paint blemishes here and there, or the less than perfect gaps between the body panels in the hopes of beating me down on price… save your breath. If you want a perfectly restored Concourse car, keep saving your pennies. If you want a gorgeous example of the first year, Mustang Fastback 2+2 for the price of a nicely optioned Kia Optima, keep reading. What’s good about this car? She was 80% perfect when I got her. she’s 90% now… There is no rust or filler. The paint is a shiny, glossy, Metallic Burgundy that really catches the sun. There are a couple tiny scratches or blemishes, but even from 3 feet away, she looks great. The interior is new as are the carpets and headliner. All gauges work as do the lights, directionals and horns. The brakes are brand new and have less than 3K miles on them. I put Coker Dual Redlines (the tires she rolled out of the factory on) and they have a couple hundred miles on them. I had the factory AC completely rebuilt (over $4K) replacing the original compressor with a newer, more efficient one… I had to have new, custom tubes made to accommodate new, R134A refrigerant. The engine is a C Code 289 with an aftermarket Edelbrock manifold and 4 bbl carb. This is paired to a C4 Green Dot transmission, completely rebuilt with a shift kit. This car goes!… and will chirp second gear. She drives and sounds amazing. I installed a new AM/FL radio with an iPod hookup and new kick panel speakers. In short, this car is a gorgeous ride and gets looks and thumbs up everywhere. It is a car that you can turn the key and go with no worries. Everything major has been done. If you want to spend the time to shift body panels to make for perfect gaps, or touch up a chip here and there, you will have a near perfect car… and a perfect driver. This is not a Concourse show car, but you will win trophies at the local car shows. This is not a full restoration, but it is one of the nicest Fastbacks you’ll see on the road. I have a daughter in vet school and a son off to college in two years. I can’t afford to have a toy right now. I will buy another one (maybe this one again, God willing)… someday. I love this car and it hurts me to let her go. If you buy her, I’ve called her “Daisy”. It fits and she seems to like it… she’s always taken care of me.
