Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 *** THIS AUCTION IS FOR CAR AND SPARE PARTS AS A PACKAGE -- WINNING BIDDER MUST BE ABLE TO PICK-UP / TRANSPORT CAR AND PARTS THEMSELVES****** LOCAL PICKUP ONLY -- I WILL NOT ARRANGE TRANSPORT *** *** CAR IS LOCATED IN MANSFIELD, OHIO (about 25 minutes from Mid-Ohio race course) ***I’m moving overseas at the end of April and selling just about everything I own... including my 1988 Mazda 323 GTX and associated parts. The car has been (and continues to be) my sole mode of transport since 2007. It currently has about 209,xxx miles. I drive it everywhere and I’m comfortable driving it long distances. The car is not easy to describe, since it has many good points vs.not-so-good points. Overall it runs and handles quite well, the center diff lock works well, the 4-wheel drive is great, and there is nothing that keeps me from driving it everyday. Since last summer I’ve replaced the timing belt, water pump, installed new tires, custom radiator, etc. The car is equipped with a set of KYB Super Special Dirtras in the rear, and I think GR2s in front... they seem to be going weak or bad. Not sure. Car still handles OKish, though. Custom 2.5” stainless steel exhaust (installed 2007) with Magnaflow muffler and hi-flow cat still sounds quite nice. Hella driving lights work really well. Sunroof opens and closes fine, and doesn’t seem to leak. Power windows still work (albeit sluggishly at times). Most importantly, it DOES NOT have the famed “cranknose wobble / keyway issue” that GTXs are known for.Naturally, as the miles have accumulated, it has required repairs to keep it on the road. As things break, I've had them fixed. Simple. But with age it seems to be requiring more to keep it going. This sounds pretty obvious, but it's true -- it's reliable until something breaks. Are there current mechanical / electrical issues? Sure -- lots of things, but nothing that keeps it off the road. For example, the engine and transmission does leak a bit of oil. Handbrake doesn’t work. Door buzzer sometimes sticks. Speedo bounces when it is under 20F degrees outside. It occasionally sputters under hard acceleration and I smell fuel at times. The AC doesn't work. Has a small (quarter-sized) star shaped crack in high center of windshield that was supposedly fixed a few years ago (hasn’t gotten any bigger since, so it must be OK), etc. Although there are miscellaneous things wrong, I recently had an inspection done by Buttons Auto Repair in Mansfield, Ohio, and it got a clean bill of health in terms of safety, roadworthiness, and overall mechanical condition. I can supply a PDF scan of the inspection upon request via email, along with a complete service record done at Button’s Auto.Overall cosmetic condition? Not great. But not too bad, all things considered (it still gets “thumbs-up” from people who know what it is). Paint is not good, particularly on the hood (vandalized by someone with a paint can). Interior is rough, front seats are not good. Rear seats are fine. Rear (upper) wing and the rear spoiler are fine. Rust? I live in central / northeast Ohio, so yes it has rust. I wouldn’t quite describe it as “basket-case” levels of rust, but significant nonetheless.Overall you could say that in spite of having plenty of miles and issues, it runs too well and is in too solid of shape to justify parting-out. So, its in this strange middle-ground -- one could just drive it as “basic-but-fun” transportation (making repairs as needed), or one could use it as a very good parts/donor car for a nicer GTX or project. Through the years this car has been a joy to own (punctuated by moments of utter despair, of course). It has ALWAYS been a blast to drive -- particularly in the snow. I’ll certainly miss it and really hope it goes to someone who can enjoy it as much as I have.Car is located in Mansfield, Ohio (about 25 minutes from Mid-Ohio race course). Associated Parts The items below go with the car, so the winning bidder will need to be able to pick-up and transport the car AND parts. The parts are currently in storage, and with the exception of the side skirts (pics taken last summer) I do not have pictures of the parts. I am not willing drag the parts out simply to take pictures of them, so please don't ask. Other than the new OEM GTX fuel tank, I do not and cannot attest to the actual working condition of these parts.Included are: a pristine new OEM Mazda GTX fuel tank (some of the factory seals still intact) a set of used OEM side skirts (not certain about condition, appear to be OK) a spare used transmission (no clue as to condition) a spare used AFM box with cone filter (no clue as to condition) a spare used head with fuel intake attached (no clue as to condition) a spare used turbo (no clue as to condition) an extra sets of used stock GTX wheels (worn, but usable) 1 used set of early RX-7 wheels (perhaps 1986-88 model.. they do fit the GTX) (worn, but usable) Note: the spare sets of wheels are all shod with old tires, and I’m not inclined to remove them myself. IMPORTANT: Trying to sell locally, so I reserve right to end auction at any time if no bids have been made Don’t ask me to sell any items separately -- this is an all-or-nothing sale Don’t ask me to drag the parts out of storage for pictures, as I won’t Winning bidder MUST pick-up the car AND parts yourself, or make arrangements for transport of car AND parts yourselfPayment with CASH ONLYMUST take delivery and make payment in full ON OR BEFORE APRIL 24th, 2015
