Vehicle Detail
What we have here is the JAWS of motocross, a 1997 Honda CR 500. A true great white shark stalking a sea of four strokers, and waiting to prey on unsuspecting $12,000+ orange "factory edition" bank notes. In stock form the 491cc liquid cooled motor pumps out an honest 60+ horsepower, add a pro circuit pipe, race fuel, and properly jet that big slide carburetor, and you can add 4-6 horsepower. Put that between the engine mounts on a 222.7 pound well sorted machine, and you have this amazing motocross bike. This CR 500 pulls, and pulls, and pulls, as long as you got the stones to let it. You will sign off before it does, and it ignites with a few good kicks and a tickle of the choke, and is a solid two kicker when warm. The Kayaba suspension in stock form is certainly up to the task, add a full Pro-Circuit rework, and set it up for a quick 190-200 lb rider and you have the suspension that can rival the newest factory set ups. The clickers make an easy adjust to the suspension if your weight changes over the, or you are a tad bigger, or lighter than the current dial in. In all honestly few riders on the planet can ride a Honda CR 500 the way that God, and those brilliant Japanese engineers intended. If you are a beginner, you better have body armor and a 6D on your head, as this is not for the weak, the shy, the timid, or those without health care. Many an experienced rider turns a whiter shade of pale (classic rock reference) when the power comes on. Not sure what it is about some guys, and gals . . . maybe it is the need to have the biggest, baddest, fiercest machine money could buy. Maybe you just want to move mounds of dirt, humble the desert floor and snicker at mountains. These photos speak for themselves. A great white shark, captured in all of it's glory. BTW, no reserve. Whomever wants it, whomever thinks they can truly handle this beast, will own it. Green stickered and titled in the great State Of California.
