L 1960 Mighty Mite AMC M422This Mighty Mite has been restored and looks and runs great. All original parts are present including the 24 volt waterproof electrical components. The Mighty Mite was specially made for the U.S. Marines only and was designed to be air lifted into combat by helicopter. At the time of its development it was the most technologically advanced jeep ever produced. To keep the weight down the body and four cylinder motor are aluminum and thence totally rust free. It has four wheel independent suspension, positraction on both front and rear and with the available fording kit can go in five feet of water. It's super light weight of less than 1600 lbs. make it a blast to drive and the most capable off roader I have ever driven. When these limited production vehicles were produced they cost the military almost 5 times what it cost to produce the conventional jeeps. They are very rare and only around 1250 of these short wheelbase vehicles were ever made. It was designed to run on three wheels if one wheel is removed so most of them did not even carry spare tires. There is seating for 4 with folding rear seats on the fenders which leavs the entire bed useable for storage.
