For Sale: 1958 Chevrolet Pickup with a TON of new parts! Father-Son Chevy Truck Restoration Project! Restoration Started. I have spent over $10,000 in accumulating parts and costs in building the engine for this. The Engine: Chevrolet 350 V8– Had the block hot tanked and magnafluxed. Cylinders honed Heads were completely re-done – shaved and magnafluxed, new valve guides and reassembled. All machine work done professionally. Engine built at local hot rod shop. New Flat Top Pistons. Medium cam – the shop that built it told me that it will have a great sounding idle but still be drivable. They let me take photos of the rebuild process. All new bearings New crankshaft New Endurashine intake manifold New chrome valve covers with Red “Chevrolet” and Bow Tie. I also have a set of chrome valve covers without the red Chevrolet and Bow Tie HEI Distributor (I actually have two HEI distributors – new in box) Zoom timing chain Chrome timing cover Engine was painted Red. I’ve paid well over $1,200 for all the parts and labor having all the machine work done and the complete rebuild. The Truck: Here’s the work done on the truck itself so far: 1958 Chevrolet Pickup ½ ton Stepside Installed a 1978 Camaro Rear Axle. Installed a Disc Brake kit in the front. Installed a Corvette Dual Master Cylinder – much better braking! I can confirm that the axle and braking system worked great before disassembly. Once it was all disassembled, the frame was wire wheeled and painted gloss black. Removed the stock power steering box and welded on a custom power steering box. Not sure what it’s from, but it came off of a wrecked hot rod 55 Chevy pickup. I have all the linkage to make it work too. The guy I hired did a good job getting it measured and welded on. Welded in inner and outer cab corner. Also welded in a repair plate over the radio, but I also have an additional replacement 350 Transmission – I drove the truck around before I took it all apart. It drove and shifted well. I don’t know anything else about it. Had the body removed from the frame – had it sandblasted. This showed the areas in need of work. Sandblasting bares it ALL! I also had the bed and tailgate sandblasted. Cab was painted over with a coat of NAPA primer that cost over $100 a gallon. It's all been primed and protected from flash rust. Had the fenders sand blasted, too! Purchased a new steel right front fender. Three doors – after we had the truck sandblasted, one of the doors (which originally looked fine) had a bad patch job at the bottom of it that we weren’t aware of. I bought a replacement door, but kept both. I have all the glass for this except for the windshield. I bought a stock bench seat for it that needs rebuilding – have purchased a rebuilding kit. There are 4 matching wheels. The plan was to paint the wheels red and clip on the baby moons and chrome trim rings. I have accumulated so many parts over the years. I’m sure that I am forgetting something. There is a big list below. Here’s what you’ll need: Cab patches will have to be welded in. Some general bodywork on the doors and fenders, and put it all back together! Most of the parts are THERE! I believe I have every single patch panel they make for this cab. I’ll list it all below. Also have lots of used parts, including extra emblems, extra gauge clusters, and a TON of other used parts for this truck!! There is a more exact list of the new parts I purchased. Lots of engine parts and tons of chrome. I have two HEI distributors. A larger list is below. I took pictures of the entire process – I will include a picture of what the truck looked like before I took it all apart. This should make someone a GREAT project. I can see this as a great father-son project. Winner of this auction gets: ALL the listed new parts (over $5,000 alone) ALL the extra used parts I have acquired (gauges, emblems, heater box, interior parts, body parts, etc.) The freshly built 350 Chevy V8 engine The 350 transmission The 1958 Chevrolet Pickup and all its original parts It will obviously have to be trailered. I am happy to work with the buyer to help coordinate pickup and even a possible delivery within a reasonable distance.
