Vehicle Detail

Original 1949 California International KB-1 Pick Up Truck, according to the owner this was an original truck out of the Oil Fields in Central California before it made it's way to Southern California where it has enjoyed a great life since the mid 60's. The truck is running, driving, licensed insured and registered, great condition for its age to be driven in the current patina, perfect for a custom hot rod or a complete restoration. This truck turns heads and is a conversational piece, has dual power wipers, factory 4 speed on the floor, 1 ton leaf springs and according to Hemmings August 2010 Post War Diamonds issue:Post-War Diamonds - 1949 International KB SeriesRarely seen today, International's KB Series pickups for 1949 are among the best built and most stylish trucks of their era the following: International's KB trucks relied on L-head straight-six engines. The Green Diamond, as the company called its truck engines, comes with a 214-cu.in., 82.9hp version optional four-speed transmission factory floor mounted. KB The option list consisted of stuff that today's truck buyers take for granted: a rear bumper, dual electric windshield wipers, a radio, dual taillamps (only a single taillamp was standard), directional lamps, and a heater/defroster. International trucks aren't rare--the company had punched out 1.5 million units International trucks aren't rare--the company had punched out 1.5 million units by 1947. But KBs are scarcer today than Advance Design Chevrolets and Bonus Built Fords. Subsequently, aftermarket support for post-war Internationals never evolved the way it did for Fords and Chevys. Parts are still out there, though, and exclusive International suppliers can be found in the Trucks & Commercial section of Hemmings Motor News. Like all trucks of this vintage, their purpose-built simplicity makes them good fodder for budding restorers, but sheetmetal and trim pieces can be a challenge to locate. The fact that you don't trip over International pickups every day hasn't necessarily made them skyrocket in value, but don't expect to find them available at giveaway prices, either. Popular price guides put the 1949 ½-ton KB-1 at a low of $5,000 and a high of $22,000, with the average around $11,000. Keep in mind this article is from 2010, and with current auction prices this is a gem and were looking for a good home for it. Collectables by Design specializes in collectables, we look for value, quality and bang for the buck. Currently I am buried in projects in my core area of older Porsche and Mercedes, so this is being listed for sale. The KB-1 aka Mater is being sold "As Is", I will answer questions to the best of my ability, I travel and will try to answer questions as quick as possible, the truck can be delivered to the Port of Los Angeles for the price of gas. Thank you and best of luck!
