The body and vin numbers all match. HISTORY: This was a complete, solid, unrestored car befor it was carfully disassembled and hardware bagged by a resoration shop in Kansas city a few years ago. The shop media blasted the entire body (with no bolt on parts installed) underneath and inside the entire body. The floors, trunk floor, and rockers are very rare because they are very good and show to have never been patched or repaced. Only the trunk floor extentions and the left inner wheel house were replaced with new by the restoration shop. The shop removed the outer quarter skins and had new skins ready for installation but never completed the job. They then primed underneath and sprayed bedlinner material inside on the floors but not the trunk floor. The shop hung the suspension back in place to move it (but it all needs new bushings and rubbers). The engine is a disassembled 69 date coded 383 and the transmission is an incomplete 727 core. I have a 1975 440 for $600 extra. At this point the owner lost the car to a bank where I purchased it about 4 years ago. I have restored 3 Roadrunners and dozens of other cars from the ground up trophy winners so I felt qualified to finish it. The problem has been time. So I am offering it to you. WORK I ACCOMPLISHED: I was impressed at the no rust condition and the way the car was professionally disassembled. I didn't find any evidence of previous structure damage or cutting on any of the body. This car was in much better condition than the Roadrunners I have made show winners from. The first thing I did was to weld the quarter skins in place. This was done 1/2 inch at a time then moving a foot down the seam to avoid warping. The top seam is welded 100% with the bottom welds and in the doors spotted like original. After grinding, wire brush wheel buffing, and sanding, I first used a skim coat of short strand fiberglass filler on the seams then finished out with regular filler. After blocking straght I orbital sanded all the primer off of the quarters, top, top of cowl, rear deck panel to insure quality preparation. I then primeed the body with a wet coat of green zinc chromate corrosion inhibiting primer. After that I finished with a wet coat of black epoxy primer. The body is well prepared and now ready for finish body work, fitting, blocking, and painting. WHATS MISSING: The things that I know for sure missing are 1 front bumper bracket, gas tank(too bent), carburetor and intake manifold, exhaust manifolds, and windshield. The door glasses are not pictured but are in the doors. CONCLUSION: It would cost many thousand to buy an original nearly rust free car like this if it were assembled . Then you would have spent thousands more to hire the work that has already been accomplished. I know that won't all be recouped by selling it unfinished. But now you can get into an amazing car for a bargain price! I have a low reserve so help yourself. HISTORY: This was a complete, solid, unrestored car befor it was carfully disassembled and hardware bagged by a resoration shop in Kansas city a few years ago. The shop media blasted the entire body (with no bolt on parts installed) underneath and inside the entire body. The floors, trunk floor, and rockers are very rare because they are very good and show to have never been patched or repaced. Only the trunk floor extentions and the left inner wheel house were replaced with new by the restoration shop. The shop removed the outer quarter skins and had new skins ready for installation but never completed the job. They then primed underneath and sprayed bedlinner material inside on the floors but not the trunk floor. The shop hung the suspension back in place to move it (but it all needs new bushings and rubbers). The engine is a disassembled 69 date coded 383 and the transmission is an incomplete 727 core. I have a 1975 440 for $600 extra. At this point the owner lost the car to a bank where I purchased it about 4 years ago. I have restored 3 Roadrunners and dozens of other cars from the ground up trophy winners so I felt qualified to finish it. The problem has been time. So I am offering it to you.
WORK I ACCOMPLISHED: I was impressed at the no rust condition and the way the car was professionally disassembled. I didn't find any evidence of previous structure damage or cutting on any of the body. This car was in much better condition than the Roadrunners I have made show winners from. The first thing I did was to weld the quarter skins in place. This was done 1/2 inch at a time then moving a foot down the seam to avoid warping. The top seam is welded 100% with the bottom welds and in the doors spotted like original. After grinding, wire brush wheel buffing, and sanding, I first used a skim coat of short strand fiberglass filler on the seams then finished out with regular filler. After blocking straght I orbital sanded all the primer off of the quarters, top, top of cowl, rear deck panel to insure quality preparation. I then primeed the body with a wet coat of green zinc chromate corrosion inhibiting primer. After that I finished with a wet coat of black epoxy primer. The body is well prepared and now ready for finish body work, fitting, blocking, and painting.
WHATS MISSING: The things that I know for sure missing are 1 front bumper bracket, gas tank(too bent), carburetor and intake manifold, exhaust manifolds, and windshield. The door glasses are not pictured but are in the doors.
CONCLUSION: It would cost many thousand to buy an original nearly rust free car like this if it were assembled . Then you would have spent thousands more to hire the work that has already been accomplished. I know that won't all be recouped by selling it unfinished. But now you can get into an amazing car for a bargain price! I have a low reserve so help yourself.
