Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a well-maintained, attractive driver that is a blast to drive and elicits smiles from both MGA enthusiasts and the public. The $5000 minimum bid is is well below market value. There is no reserve, so you can be sure someone will enjoy it as much as I have. Please check the sold MGA listings on Ebay to get a sense of valuation as there are some good comps. I have owned the car since 1982. It has been garaged and used regularly on good weather summer weekends. Total mileage is 74,000. I am the third owner. Selling now as the garage space is needed for the winter and no one in my family is a car enthusiast. Go ahead and channel Greg Marmalard. While not a show car, it still has attractive paint from a few feet away with no obvious body rust. The current paint was applied before 1982 so it is showing its age with road chips and some crazing. All the gauges and lights work. Starts easily and runs strong. Wire wheels are in good shape. Full professional mechanical restoration in 1995 at about 64,0000 miles: Complete engine and transmission tear down and rebuild New cylinder head Brake system New gas tank and fuel pump Radial tires Recent professional upgrades (last two years): New rear springs Brake system checked and cleaned New interior carpet and mats Electronic ignition system Re-dyed vinyl seats and arm rest New master cylinder New starter switch New battery (12V) Rebuilt shock absorbers Extras items included: Spare gas tank sending unit Original black steering wheel (cosmetic damage on plastic bezel) Shop manual, repair books and maintenance documentation Original logo/blanking plate to replace current non original radio Tonneau cover in good condition Carburetor tuning kit (for balancing air flow in dual carburetors) NAMGAR registered Copper wheel hammer for knock off wire wheels Jack stands and hydraulic jacks Things that may need attention depending on your mindset: Fuel sending unit occasionally sticks Turn signal switch needs repair Rheostat light knob is missing Front bumper is missing one of the vertical over riders due to a failed bolt. Could be re-attached. No cloth top or frame (you are better off with space for groceries) See pictures for noticeable paint damage on left front fender. Chrome plating is aged but still attractive Trunk carpet is gone Trunk support rod clasp is missingTypical minor dings and paint damage Non refundable $2000 Paypal deposit within 48 hours of auction. Flexible on pickup date and final payment but both must be must be within 30 days of auction. Car can be seen in Westport, CT with prior arrangement. If you need help with shipment arrangements, let me know as I have done it before. Email with any questions (including the Greg Marmalard reference). Car has a PA antique tile and permanent PA antique registration. Owner located in Allentown, PA. On Sep-22-14 at 11:53:49 PDT, seller added the following information: Turn signal defect refers to the red indicator light (which is not working) not the exterior lights which function as expected. Probably a grounding defect, but I have not had a chance to investigate. On Sep-23-14 at 11:21:52 PDT, seller added the following information: There is a also small inconsequential chip on the windscreen which is not visible in the pictures. On Sep-24-14 at 04:21:36 PDT, seller added the following information: Although I have not had a look under the car in about 4 years. at that time there was no significant structural rust and the frame rails were in good shape. The car has not been in the rain since at least 1982. When in for professional upgrades last year, no adverse comments were made by the mechanic. On Sep-26-14 at 07:16:31 PDT, seller added the following information: Please consider you final bids carefully. There are currently 135 watchers. On Sep-26-14 at 11:27:52 PDT, seller added the following information: I noticed that in one of the pictures the PS door is not fully closed. This is just an oversight on my part and that door fits and closes well. The DS door fit is relatively poor on the bottom. Both doors close well and will stay closed if latched. The previous owner (pre 1982) told me he replaced the rocker panels on both sides which were rusted. This may account for the relatively poor fit since he probably did it himself, although I can't be sureOn Sep-27-14 at 06:48:49 PDT, seller added the following information: Final Note: I have owned the car and taken care of it since 1982 so I have been over every inch. More recently it has been professionally maintained with a blank check on any significant mechanical, safety or structural issues. I am pretty confident that all is well and the next owner will really enjoy the car.. Good luck if you choose to bid
