The seller said he brought it in from SW Oklahoma where it had been parked in a pasture for a several years. It appears to have been white with a red top and back of the cab. Surprisingly the engine wasn't stuck. I was also impressed with the small amount of rust on this 54 year old truck. The griille is in unbelievably good condition. Southwest Oklahoma is very dry! WORK DONE: My mechanic and I love to get old trucks running and back on the road again. We cleaned the gas tank and carburetor, changed oil, put in new spark plugs, points, distributor cap, fuel lines, fuel pump and filter. An intake valve was bent on #1 cylinder. We replaced the#1 intake and exhaust valve (of course new head gasket). All cylinders tested over 110#s cold. A crack at the bottom of the water jacket on the drivers side block was discovered so we went to the internet to find the best repair. The crack was angle drilled every half inch then super cleaned and wire wheel buffed. We then filled the cracks and drill holes with JB Weld. For extra protection we took out the freeze plugs on that side and, after cleaning, filled the water jacket with POR 15 about 3/4 of an inch deep which covered the cracks. It sets up like rock so there should never be a problem from leaking. In fact there aren't any noticeable fluid leaks under the truck! The engine has no smoke or knocks, cools well, and has plenty of power. The brakes and clutch were next. My mechanic intalled all new wheel cylinders, master brake and clutch cylinders, clutch slave cylinder, and new brake hoses. The shoes and drums were cleaned and in good shape. The clutch now works perferctly as do the brakes. The front end checked out solid but there is some play in the steering box. It does go down the road well and is easy to drive. We didn't fix the faulty radio, generator, lights, wipers, fuel guage, or the speedometer. The doors and hood open and close well and the windows roll up and down. It starts very easily but does idles a little sloppy untill it smooths out with some increased throttle(I think the carb needs a kit). I sandblasted, primed, and painted the wheels and put on some 1/3 to 1/2 tread 15 inch tires. I tried to take lots of pictures to show problems but I'm sure I could have missed something. CONCLUSION: I have used this truck to to go back and forth to my farm 3 miles away. It brings back lots of good memories of growing up on a farm in the 60s. I hope the new buyer enjoys it as much as I have! I will give the buyer the right to inspect the truck before paying(within 7 days). If he or she feels that I have misrepresented it, the buyer may have a full refund of their deposit. Once paid for I will hold it for 2 or 3 weeks while waiting for transport. Thanks for looking! A crack at the bottom of the water jacket on the drivers side block was discovered so we went to the internet to find the best repair. The crack was angle drilled every half inch then super cleaned and wire wheel buffed. We then filled the cracks and drill holes with JB Weld. For extra protection we took out the freeze plugs on that side and, after cleaning, filled the water jacket with POR 15 about 3/4 of an inch deep which covered the cracks. It sets up like rock so there should never be a problem from leaking. In fact there aren't any noticeable fluid leaks under the truck! The engine has no smoke or knocks, cools well, and has plenty of power. The brakes and clutch were next. My mechanic intalled all new wheel cylinders, master brake and clutch cylinders, clutch slave cylinder, and new brake hoses. The shoes and drums were cleaned and in good shape. The clutch now works perferctly as do the brakes. The front end checked out solid but there is some play in the steering box. It does go down the road well and is easy to drive. We didn't fix the faulty radio, generator, lights, wipers, fuel guage, or the speedometer. The doors and hood open and close well and the windows roll up and down. It starts very easily but does idles a little sloppy untill it smooths out with some increased throttle(I think the carb needs a kit). I sandblasted, primed, and painted the wheels and put on some 1/3 to 1/2 tread 15 inch tires. I tried to take lots of pictures to show problems but I'm sure I could have missed something.
CONCLUSION: I have used this truck to to go back and forth to my farm 3 miles away. It brings back lots of good memories of growing up on a farm in the 60s. I hope the new buyer enjoys it as much as I have! I will give the buyer the right to inspect the truck before paying(within 7 days). If he or she feels that I have misrepresented it, the buyer may have a full refund of their deposit. Once paid for I will hold it for 2 or 3 weeks while waiting for transport. Thanks for looking!
