1979 MG B Convertible odometer: 43643 VIN: GHN5UL488768G paint color : brown type : convertible drive : rwd fuel : gas transmission : manual title status : clean cylinders : 4 cylinders For sale: 1979 MG model B - convertible coupe. Bought in 2001 to get running for teenage daughter; seat didn't adjust enough for her height and dad got to drive it instead. Maintenance records available; was fixed up to drive as daily driver from 2003-2006 in NC and FL. Weber carb and air rail and pump still on it. Suffered the hail storm of April 2012 and top has many holes; with top down and cover over the top, no one knows but you. Mechanical care includes rebuilt carb., cleaning and coating of gas tank, new engine mount, tuning; new tires around 2003; wheels painted Porsche gray (nice highlights). Turns over (but has been void of gas); clutch master cylinder went out in 2006, and I purchased one, but putting it in was beyond my level of mechanical ability. Stored in garage. New webbing and foam in driver's side seat. Starburst crack on outside of driver's side of windshield; was that way when I got it; doesn't affect vision, and hasn't changed since I've had the vehicle. Hasn't been painted; unique in that one side is dull brown; the other is shiny brown - I don't know the story behind that. Has some rust, but not a deterrent to driving. Has spare and car cover in trunk. I don't know if the radio works; never used it. Currently insured and registered in SC. Great project car for family project, and in time for Christmas. It won't take much to get this on the road, and can be a fun daily driver again; if you're interested in restoration, it's possible, but much more money and time will be required. For spec info on MGBs, use a web browser and search on 1979 MGB specifications - several sites will come up for you. On Sep-01-14 at 12:06:01 PDT, seller added the following information: Revision #1: My service record will come with the car which includes regular maintenance and the repairs made as I got it up and running. On Sep-05-14 at 07:34:53 PDT, seller added the following information: Revision #2: Additional info. Auction also includes three books: MGB:1962 thru 1980 by Haynes (repair manual); Weber Carburettors: Owners Workshop Manual by Haynes, and a 2001 Moss MGB/GT Parts Catalog. Original Owner's Manual is also with the car. The engine turns over well. I put gas in, but the fuel pump isn't engaging - carb and plugs are dry, and no fuel is coming into the engine compartment. That could be contacts on fuel pump, needing a few good whacks, or pulling it off (above the right rear leaf spring), and opening, unsticking whatever is stuck, and putting it back in place. Car is solid (apart from the rust I mentioned above) - all metal; no repairs like Bondo that I know of, and none in my possession. As one fellow MG enthusiast said, "It's all original, and a solid base to drive daily or start a restoration." Addition/Revision #3: New lower reserve price.
