Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE For sale is a 1985 Honda VF 700 Interceptor. I have used this bike as my daily rider and commuter, as well as a, operating piece of my ongoing interest in Honda motorcycles from the 60’s-late 80’s. I feel like this bike represents the next era of technology of interest to vintage bike fans in the next few years. The next CB750!I purchased this two summers ago from a friend: by profession a vintage motorcycle mechanic specializing in all things Honda. I've been taking care of it myself ever since. I have put about 1500 (?) miles on this bike this year and have no hesitation taking it on the highway or on longer trips. It’s cruised the backroads and highways of Long Island the last two summers, gets plenty of attention and holds it’s own at the lights. It tears it up comfortably for hours at 70mph with plenty of room left in the throttle. Runs all day and drops right back to idle. I have spent innumerable hours cruising the backroads, driving between NYC and the country, and daily to the beach,It’s ready to ride and in great shape, having constant maintenance performed throughout the last three years. It’s a fun, fast, reliable piece of Honda history. GOOD THINGS: The tires will last out the season (BT45) New oil filter/oil changeRebuilt starter motor New front brake pads/rear and front brakes bled Carbs cleaned and synched Valves adjusted New speedo cable New rear wheel bearings Replaced seat with NOS one (83) 85' seat includedTitle in my name The electrical and charging system is in top shape Modified fuel pump delivery for maximum effectiveness Tank cleaned with muriatic acid/petcock rebuilt/inline filter …..and much more NOT AS GOOD THINGS The plastic mounting tabs on the side covers are broken in one place on both sides and the plastics themselves are somewhat faded. So is the tank and the rear cowl. It looks like a complete, well maintained 30 year old bike that has been ridden but has had a good life. The speedo needle has broken in half. Too fast I guess......The horn button fell offCould benefit from a new set of grips Why am I selling it? I love the Inteceptor, and it has served me well, but I weigh 125 pounds, and it’s alot of bike. I’m very confident in this bike, but like any vintage purchase, I always tell people to be aware that vintage means a little more work and TLC to keep on the road.I will drive this anywhere in LI to NYC for the reserve price
