This truck was originally built by James A. Jensen at Brigham Young University for collecting sauropod dinosaur bones, so its definitely a heavy duty vehicle. You can see its history here. The photo on that page shows this custom bed on an older model truck, and the bed was later moved over to this 1984 Chevy. I bought it to do field work, but its more than I need for the work that I do. Truck has a 454 engine, three speed, low geared transmission, and 4x4 with locking hubs. Bench seat. PTO powered winch in the back and a balanced A frame for loading large material into the back. Also has an electric powered winch in the front. Dual rear tires. Redundant electrical system with two batteries and a selector switch under the hood. Side rails and tailgate remove to make one large open flatbed. 8 latch points on the bed for securing loads. Runs and drives just fine, but does need a little work (for example: new drivers side mirror, new dash lights, etc...) and the body and interior is not in perfect condition. I recently replaced starter and alternator, along with coolant hose and belts. Not beautiful, but definitely a work horse, and its a part of history. Comes "as is" with no guarantees.
