Vehicle Detail

This beautiful Mercedes-Benz 220SE Cabriolet was purchased by the first owner in Los Angeles, California and kept in Las Vegas, Nevada until 2003, when he moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico. In 2004, when the car had just over 74,000 miles original miles and was still in almost original condition, he decided to stop driving and had us sell the car for him. It was purchased by a local Santa Fe couple, who subsequently replaced the seat leather with the correct pattern and color, and then recently had the car painted and the convertible top replaced. The car has always started and run extremely well, and has only needed minor maintenance and a starter and generator rebuild in recent years. Due to being in the dry western climate all its life, and always garaged, it is in completely rust free condition. The car was shown at the Santa Fe Concorso in 2012, where it won second place in it's class. Please look up the Santa Fe Concorso website to see the high caliber of cars that have been accepted to be shown at this event. The following is the description of this car as published in the event catalogue: The Mercedes-Benz 220SE was introduced in 1958 and was available in coupe, sedan, and cabriolet body styles. The 1960 was the last "Pontoon" body style. The three year production of the 220SE accounted for 1,974 cars, of which 1,112 were cabriolets. A 2.2 liter engine fitted with a Bosch fuel-injection system producing 134 hp powers the SE models (standing for Super, Fuel Injected). The 220SE cabriolets sold for a staggering $9,000, making these cars one of the most expensive cars of their era. These cars were hand-built and fitted with many amenities, such as dash and door finishes of burled-grain wood veneers and seats covered with Roser surface-dyed leather.
