1973 Datsun 240Z S30 Up for auction is my 1973 Datsun 240Z with a clean CA title. I purchased this car from its 2nd owner in 1983 in Philadelphia and restored it in 1985 (car's original color was Datsun orange) before moving to California where the car was garage kept until 2000. Car was transported cross country when I moved to southern Maryland in 2001 and relegated to weekend road trips until 2006 when the car was put in outdoor storage under a shed roof. Pulled it out two weeks ago to examine feasibility of passing the car on to my 18 year-old nephew. Car came back to life with a new battery, fresh gas, and reset ignition points. Compression test showed all 6 cylinders above 155 psi. Frozen clutch turned out to be a seized slave cylinder which I replaced with a new Beck Arnley unit (also have new clutch master cylinder which I opted not to install). Car runs and shifts well and is electrically sound (including tachometer). Carbs are stock Hitachi flat tops with manual choke. Southern Maryland humidity has taken a toll on the exhaust system and driver side floor pan which has rusted thru again (last repaired in 1985). Carpets are threadbare with crumbling foam backing. Spare wheel well is rust free and tool kit complete. Dash has a single split; glove box in good condition with original owners manual inside. Exterior paint and body in condition one would expect of a car that has been neglected for 8 years. Wheels are aftermarket Western Auto alloy rims (gave away the stock rims some time ago). All in all, a good, mechanically sound base car overdue for another restoration. Please forward any questions you might have. I'd be happy to show the car if you are in the area.
