Up for bid is a very nice 1975 Toyota FJ-40 Land Cruiser that is a daily driver. the vehicle was purchased in Arizona in 2012 and has 96,544 miles on it. The vehicle received a Virginia state inspection in June of this year and no problems were found I have to say, for a vehicle that will be 40 years old next year this one is in remarkable condition. Mechanically the vehicle is sound, the engine runs smooth and has good compression, and does not smoke, the transmission and clutch are tight and shifts smooth, the breaks are in good condition as is the exhaust and electrical system. All fluids have been changed and maintained on a regular basis and are very clean with-in their respected containers. The motor is the larger 4.2L, 135hp, 6cyl 2F, there are no apparent problems with the 4 wheel drive unit. Water in the radiator is clean and clear of rust. The tires are in good condition with plenty of tread. The interior of the vehicle is also in very good condition with no tears in the upholstery. there is a problem with the headliner it is not as nice as it could be, over the windshield of the vehicle it has torn and has come away from the actual top. All the gauges work and appear to be accurate. None of the glass has any cracks or fogging. The rear seats are also in very good shape and the roll bar is removable. The vehicle is equipped with the fold down windscreen. The main problem with the vehicle is the paint job. Have you ever taken a car to a recommended body shop only to find out after the work... that they were fools, well that is what happened here. The vehicle was re-painted in 2013, mainly because the paint work was on the dull side, beyond buffing, so it was decided to re-paint it. There are no runs in the paint and overall it looks good but the prep work and taping left a lot to be desired with things like overlap on the rubber in spots and some of the chips around the more difficult areas were not sanded well. Also the shop was suppose to have aligned the rear doors, but this was not done also the drip rail on the top was re-caulked but it appears that the forgot to use a caulk gun. It pains me that this happened to the Cruiser especially with the amount I paid for this paint job. Like I said, overall the paint job looks good and the problems with the caulk and door alignment seem to be minor especially since the Cruiser is in such good mechanical shape.All the badges, emblems are on the vehicle and all the hold downs are in good shape.
