Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a 1937 Chrysler Airflow sedan. These cars were manufactured by the Chrysler Corporation in an attempt to improve automobile aerodynamics. Due to the interesting shape of the front clip, the cars were not extremely popular, hence there were a limited number produced. This is a solid, good driving car, being about 98% complete and to the best of my knowledge about 95% original. The engine runs well with no knocks, misfiring, overheating, or coolant leaks. It does smoke a little, but not to excess. The radiator has been recently reconditioned. The entire drive train is free of noise, vibration, and excessive free play. The overdrive transmission works perfectly, and the front end suspension and steering mechanism are solid and free of side pull, vibration, shimmy, and excessive free play. The brakes work well with a full pedal and almost new shoes with no noise, side pull or visible hydraulic leaks. The vacuum power brake booster is missing, but the brakes are adequate with out it. All the lights work with the exception of the license plate display. All the gauges work except the engine temperature (there is an add-on temperature gauge, which is functional). Tires are old and worn, but stay inflated. The exhaust system is solid, quiet and free of leaks. The rear bumper is in very good condition, the front bumper has a couple of small areas where the chrome finish is peeling. The radio works, but the clock doesn't. The two right side door glasses are cracked, but intact and work well. One of the rear view body glasses is also cracked and the side quarter glasses are discolored from age. Neither of the windshield glasses will roll out as a previous owner sealed them shut with silicone (undoubtedly to stop leaks). The interior is original condition and shows it, although the seats aren't broken down. The rear door panels and armrests are in decent condition. The front door panels are very ragged. I removed the head liner to facilitate replacing the top panel rubber seals. Non-original items are: carburetor, heater, and add on temperature gauge. About 50% of what looks like original dark blue paint remains. The original wood portion of the floorboards has been replaced. The original rubber floor mat has been replaced with carpet (not a professional looking job). The only rust issues I have found are very minor in nature. They consist of small bubbles at the lower corner of three doors and some small holes at the extreme back of the trunk floor pan (see attached pictures). I suppose the lack of rust can be attributed to the car being sold new in California where it remained for several years, then went to Nashville,TN for an unknown number of years, then to Carthage, MO where I purchased it. This is the best I can trace the history. I have done my best to properly represent the condition of the car. I am an honest ebayer and expect the same from any purchaser. Please do not bid on the car unless you are a serious buyer. Good luck and happy bidding! Terms of sale: $500 deposit due within 72 hours of auction close. Full payment within 7 days of auction close. Types of payments accepted: cash, cashier's check, or wired funds. Shipping: shipping is not available, local pickup only.
