Approx. 104,xxx miles. 4th/5th owner. No Trades. Having recently purchased an E46 M3 convertible, I am now (finally) motivated to sell this nice example of a low mile E34 540 M-Sport. This car was for sale about two years ago and although I had a lot of interest in it, I kept the price high at $15,000 and ultimately decided to keep it. The current price of $11,900 reflects my desire to finally part with this car after 7 or so great years of enjoyment. The price reflects the condition of the car with a few things that need to be done. I am not at all interested in any trades of any kind. For those who don't know BMW has always produced elite sport vehicles. The M series from BMW stands alone in performance and handling. As a part of introducing the M technology into vehicles the BMW 5 series got its own touch of modifications. M-Sport models contain M upgrades from the bigger M3 and M5 models. This 540i sport is one of the Rarest. Only 200 1995 540i M Sport were made and only 136 were available for sale in the US. You are now looking at one of those 136 with the 6 speed with low miles. Before I continue I want to advise you to look further into the work done on these cars. Search kindel dot com BMW Roundel More about my Car I bought the car from a friend 7 or 8 years ago and have put on approximately 25k miles. I drive it to work and back -- about 7 miles each way. With two kids now and all the gear that comes with them, we take it on fewer road trips but that is where this car really shines. It is a blast to drive. During the Winter I garage the car with car cover, as did the previous owner. The prior owner wouldn't even drive the car in the rain and still refers to it as the "Garage Queen". The paint is in good shape with normal road rash around the front. Wheels are okay with some road rash on 1 or two of them. The interior is nearly flawless with no rips and no carpet wear. Some time before the prior owner, this car appears to have been in a light front end collision but the car is straight and there is little to no evidence of the repair. I really love this car and have taken good care of it both mechanically and cosmetically. It is not perfect but I have invested in keeping it in excellent mechanical condition, often doing things that might not have had to be done. It is completely leak free and drives wonderfully. It is one of the nicer, lower mileage 540 M-Sports that I have seen but it's not a car to put in the garage and look at. This car is meant to be driven and I take every opportunity in the late spring, summer and early fall to do so. Some of the work done on this car: Summer 2013 -- cat delete. Winter 2013: Replaced stock head unit with audiophile quality pioneer DEH-80 head unit, JL Audio 400 watt amplifier and dual 8″ sub. Kept original head unit that will go with car. Original speakers now sound great. This is one of the best sounding stereos I have had, complete with bluetooth speaker phone. There is little to no evidence of these modifications except for the head unit and in the trunk. If removed, there would be no evidence of an install. 6-2012, replaced coolant tank, replaced water pump, replaced left, center, right steering links and pitman idler arm, replaced all 4 front upper and lower control / thrust arms, replaced rear pitman links (dog bones), replaced rear sub-frame bushings, new floor mats, Replaced right front EDC sensor, Not all of it necessary, but the car feels much tighter and I now have peace of mind on the occasional 125 mph stretch! Work done last season: Replaced RR leaky Strut, have spare LR strut (EDC system is error free) Future work: cruise control not working (i don't use anyway), gas lid spring needs replacement ($5+1/2 hour), Driver door lock lift, front tires, professional detailing. IMPORTANT: This car has the new Alusil engine block, replaced by BMW under warranty at 44,271 miles in 2001. If you are considering buying a BMW 8 Cylinder E34, this is a huge plus. Google E34 Nikasil for more information on the problems encountered with these cars. The car is mostly stock, other than a short shift kit and racing dynamics shock tower stabilizer. Brakes -- M5 315x28mm (12.4″) fixed rotors front and 300x20mm fixed rotors back. Suspension -- "Double Pivot" McPherson strut front suspension with anti-dive geometry and ECE M5 calibrations -- Track link semi trailing arm rear suspension from ECE M5 with anti-squat geometry - Self-leveling rear suspension - Adaptive M suspension with comfort and sport programs (EDC) Steering -- Power assisted steering with revised rate from ECE M5 Wheels and Tires- 17″ M5/850 CSi Forged Alloy two piece Turbine II Wheels 8J x 17 front, 8J x 17 rear with 4 newer Falken 452′s Body -- M5 style aerodynamic body package without contrasting strip -Aerodynamic M Exterior mirrors painted in body color - Illuminated BMW M gear shift knob - BMW M style SRS steering wheel Seats -- 12 way power front sports seats with 3 position memory Alarm -- Central locking system with double locking feature and vehicle immobilizer Windows -- Power windows (front and rear) with toll function (down for all doors, up for driver's door) Transmission- Manual 6 speed Sport Transmission
