Vehicle Detail

This is a beautiful little 1958 180b Webasto top sedan. I was told by the previous owner this car was in a 1959 or 60 foreign film, Italian or French, and brought to America in the mid sixties. He could not remmember the name of the film that his deceased father who owned the car told him, only that it was about a middle aged couple on a sail boat and a younger man with whom the woman had an affair. The younger man faked his drowning at the end of the movie and the older couple drove off in this car. I did some research, but could not find the film. This car had a restoration approximately five years ago and the older, in his late 80s, gentleman who owned it and restored it died shortly afterward. I aquired the car from his son and his estate. The restoration was more of a car being refurbised than a complete ground up restoration. The car is very original and virtually rust free. The floor pan and wheel wells have all of the original stampings and are solid. The car has excellent door rubber all around and most of the chrome is of show quality. The paint is also very nice. The Webasto top appears to be the original top with only minor wear. It is a little difficult to open and close, but just takes a little patience working one side then the other to open and close it.  The headliner appears to have been replaced at some point and is of a material that is very close to the original. The headliner shows some wear but is presentable. Everything mechanically works on this car including the clock, which keeps good time, and the radio. The car runs and drives great and the brakes work as they should. The original tool kit is complete including the Mercedes tire guage, and all of the owner's manuals are present and in great condition. A $500.00 deposit is required after the auction's close within 24 hours, and the balance paid within 7 days of the auction's close. Ground transportation to and from the SLC International Airport to inspect the car can be provided with at least one day's notice at no charge. Please e-mail with any questions and I will also provide my phone number upon request. I just discovered the name of the movie this car was aparently a part of, "Knife in The Water" Roman Polansky's first film. The car is filmed quite a bit inside and out while the actors interact. I also forgot to mention this car's original tool kit has the accessory fan belt still with its original cover, very rare to find one.
