VERY RARE FIND Up for auction is a 1972 Corvette Convertible 4 Speed with the Factory High Performance LT1 Option Only about 400 LT1 Convertibles were made and restored examples have sold at auction for over $126,000!!! To make this car even rarer this LT1 was special ordered to be light weight making it faster meaning the ONLY option ordered was the LT1 Engine No Power Anything!! But it seems the first owner liked his music cause he did order it with the factory stereo radio! This exact car may be 1 of 1 made! This vette started life with a Targa Blue exterior with a Black Vinyl interior and a white top. The car was taken off the road back in the early 80's due to an engine noise in the lower end, at that point a late 70's corvette sort block was installed with the original LT1 (3973487) heads which are dated correctly and a matched pair. The rest of the drive train is original. So for the most part I would say this is a matching numbers car even the original GM production tag (1/72 is still on the inside of the drivers door with vin number (If you could located the original block you would be set!). At some point in the past 10 years a restoration was started on the car and never finished, it seems all new GM fiberglass was installed on the front and in the rear a tail light panel then the car was gel coated, the body lines are very nice and all the bonding seems are intact on all four corners the hard stuff was done! Underneath the rest of the body is very clean and many of the factory markings are still there and easily scene! The frame is sold and the bird cage is in GREAT shape I did not find any major issues in the floors, windshield pillars, door jams or header which is rare in these old corvettes. The interior is missing door panels, seats, carpet and such but the top dash is there and is perfect has NO cracks, the left lower dash is there with speedo and original 6500 redline rpm tach, center gauges, factory seat belts, heat controller and all the duct work and wiring is there. Doors are rot free and have the glass and regulators in them. There are also some extra parts to the car inside as well. This car is the perfect restoration project its one of the rarest corvettes and will keep going up in value!
