Vehicle Detail

Very rare 1942 Chrysler Windsor Club Coupe. Only a handful of these cars cars were built in 1942 because production of all consumer automobiles ceased when all the factories shifted their resources for World War II. The "Big three" of the Detroit car companies ended the model year early in January. These assembly lines were retooled to start the manufacturing of war machinery. Adding to this particular car's rarity, is the fact that this is one of very few to have full exterior chrome, since many of the cars that were produced in 42 were black out models. I purchased this car in 1988 from a collector who purchased it along with a few other cars from the Paul Stern collection. I have moved it from one storage place to another many times, with intentions to one day restore it.It is very original and unique, unmolested and all there! The original oxblood leather/red Bakelite interior is complete. The seats are in good shape, but the leather seams have let loose and are separated. The door panels are complete and the rear seat is all there and in good shape. It has a very nice dash and great steering wheel, radio and even the original floor mats and rubber door sills. It is basically solid, but does have some rust issues as seen in photos: The front floor would need repair as do the rockers, and some small areas in the trunk. Paint is thin in spots so I primed over some areas where the paint chipped of to cover surface rust. The photos show that the horizontal grill pieces are there and in very good shape (a couple pieces will need to be straightened). I will be including some extra parts but I only have the one skirt (pictured.) This car is a six cylinder and has a fluid drive transmission. It's been off the road and last registered in 1952 but it runs! I advertised it a couple months ago before i got it running and it did not reach reserve. Since then, I've had the head removed and cleaned, installed new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, hoses etc. and it now starts and runs (though it's fed off of a bottle since the gas lines leak). The last time it was driven on the road was seven years ago and I drove it 11 miles, pulled it in the drive way and the brakes went to the floor. Included is a new master cylinder in the box but I am sure the lines and hoses need attention, so don't plan on driving it home. The tires are about 15 years old but are in good shape showing very little ware and no dry rot. That said, again I will stress that the car runs, but is not driving anywhere. It does need a complete restoration. All in all it is a very good candidate for a restoration of a unique and super rare, super complete Chrysler. My good intentions have never materialized into actually getting to the car so better cleaner more original example for the price. I've taken lots of pics to show the car in and out , but I welcome any questions or would happily show the car if you'd like to see it for yourself. Questions: 973 214 5792
