Vehicle Detail
Available here is a 1966 Chevy Caprice in the Rare color combination of Aqua on Aqua. As you can see from the pictures, the interior is complete, although it needs some repairs to the seat covers and rear shelf. The car comes with an extra (used) dash pad that is in very good condition. This diamond in the rough needs a new paint job, but there doesn't appear to be any rust, except for the VERY light surface rust on the roof. The car comes with the numbers matching motor, which isn't running currently, and it comes with an extra, running big block 396. Haggerty prices a daily driver at almost $15,000 but I think that's a little extreme, and since this beauty needs some work to make her beautiful once again, I'm starting the auction at a very reasonable $4500. The buyer will have to arrange shipping, and I'll do whatever it takes to help accommodate the transportation vehicle. My Plans were to RestoMod this awesome car, unfortunately my Mother suffered a stroke a couple of years ago, and moving her into my house to care for her has been incredibly expensive. At $4500 I'm taking a loss on this awesome car, but the money I do get will go to a good cause and I'm hoping the new owner will stuff a nice LS under the hood & take good care of her. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding. On Jun-29-14 at 15:20:55 PDT, seller added the following information: Since I've received a few questions about the car, I'll do my best to answer them until I get home tomorrow and I can post more pictures. The motor that's mounted in the car right now, does not run, however, because it's the numbers-matching engine, I don't want to remove it in case the new owner wants to rebuild it. I am including a 325hp 396 that's coming out of my '66 Impala that starts right up & runs reliably. I can place the extra motor in the trunk or ship it with the car on an engine stand, whatever the new owner prefers. I'll take pictures of the engine compartment tomorrow & post them as soon as I can. This car does have A/C, although it's been disconnected. I got the car from the widow of an elderly gentleman, and he had been planning (for some time) to restore the car for his wife to drive. She's pretty sure they bought the car in the 80's. The paint job is pretty old, before base coat / clear coats became popular, and you can tell because the fender bolts are painted body color, which I know didn't happen at the factory. Since there are too many people advertising their hoopdies as #1 or high #2 cars, I'm describing this Caprice as realistically as possible. Haggerty has a cool page on their website that helps price-point cars, and if you check it out, you'll see that I recognize this car needs work, which is why I've priced it at a reasonable $4500... http://www.hagerty.com/valuationtools/HVT/VehicleSearch/Report?vc=19292 I have a set of genuine Ralleye wheels (They're actually round, unlike most of the overseas replicas) that I'll send along with the car if the new owner wants them. The wheels don't have the center caps or trim rings, but I think they look very cool on the Caprice, especially with the flat, drum brake centers. Please look at the pictures, I've added a shot of the trim tag.On Jul-02-14 at 22:03:22 PDT, seller added the following information: I just added more pictures of the car in response to some of the very good questions I've received. Of the interior shots, I tried to show the condition of the door panels (Not in good shape) and the headliner, which is in great shape - Those are my favorite pictures because they highlight how very cool the lines on a '66 Caprice Hard Top really are. You might also be able to see the extra dash pad on the back seat, which is included to replace the one that's currently covering the dash (That one isn't in very good shape). I forgot to take a picture of the trunk while the sun was in a good position to illuminate it, so I'll take one tomorrow & add it. If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to ask. One more thing... In fairness to everyone watching this auction (Currently 72 people have it book marked in their favorites), I won't end the listing to sell the car early, sorry. Thanks for looking, Good luck bidding On Jul-03-14 at 18:39:28 PDT, seller added the following information: A Friend of mine sent a question about the A/C that I thought I should share. "Is the A/C Regular AC or is it Comfotron ?" The A/C is Comfotron, with the sensor mounted under the dash between the radio & the clock Also, Any parts that aren't visible on the motor, such as the Alternator, Air Cleaner, Distributor & Brackets are in the trunk and included with the car... They were the first things I started to remove from the motor when I still had hopes of fixing up the car. The same goes for the Left-Side headlight Ring... It's also in the trunk.
