Please note that experience shows us that the photobucket of over 100 large pixel pictures posted here are in most cases best viewed and downloaded using the very latest and most updated version of the 'Firefox' browser as some other browsers and especially older browser versions are not capable of accommodating the size of the download. Over the years our clients have overwhelmingly been appreciative of our many unaltered large pixel photos posted in our ads and our feedback has been that it is very rare that a seller will post all but the most flattering of photographs. We prefer to expose the complete roll of film taken of the car, in sometimes unflattering but natural sunlight, in order for our prospective buyers to be able to see true and reliable images of the car advertised and that is the reason for some seemingly duplicated shots. We trust you will agree West Coast Classics are proud to present an absolutely beautiful example of this original southern California rust free and very rare early 1965 production Ford Mustang 2+2 'A' code 289/225HP 4BBL V8 Fastback built in San Jose, California on November 23rd, 1964 with a rare original 4 speed manual transmission and which was delivered new to Los Angeles, California! The car has only 81K original miles on its original engine which was also rebuilt at 72,930 miles when a new exhaust system, clutch, tires, carburetor and heater box and defroster system were also replaced. Ford's biggest success of the sixties and the originator of the 'Pony car' concept was essentially a sporty compact car but with a now legendary long hood and short deck proportions, built on Falcon and Fairlane chassis and drive-train components, the Ford Mustang was introduced in April 1964 as '65 models and within a year became the fastest selling car of all time; with these early production cars now carrying special favor and becoming fondly known as 64 1/2 models by Mustang enthusiasts! The upgraded V8 from the Falcon six cylinder engine was the 260 c.i. V8 produced on the same assembly line with other 1964 Fords, these early models were titled as 1965 models although they were actually from the 1964 production era. After September 1964 the 260 V8 was dropped in favor of the larger 289 V8 like this particular car which actually boasts the high performance 'A' code 289/225HP 4 barrel V8! Recently purchased from a long time (over 20 years) mature female driver who babied the car and kept a thick file of all her service records, including the above mentioned engine rebuild etc, this is an obviously always well maintained, garaged and looked after California car since new. This car must be driven to be fully appreciated - the engine is extremely strong and responsive with no noticeable oil leaks and the 4 speed manual transmission shifts smoothly through the gears and the engine temperature always remains cool. As stated, the car will be sold with a thick file of impressive service records showing absolutely fastidious maintenance and attention to detail and there are no signs of any accidents or rust. The car is very striking with a still absolutely presentable older repaint in 'Poppy Red' from it's original 'Ivy Green Metallic' factory color paint and the original Black color 'Crinkle Vinyl' standard interior is still in fabulous condition with no noticeable flaws and the steering wheel, center console with 4 speed manual 'Hurst' shifter and dashboard still look as they must have when the car left the factory floor almost 50 years ago! This is is one very fine example of this very collectible and desirable early first year (1964) of production of the legendary Ford Mustang with a thick file of records documenting the cars recent service history and mileage in turn-key ready daily appreciating, daily driving and daily head-turning condition! You will look long and hard to find a finer daily driving example of this highly sought after original southern California 'black license plate' 1965 Ford Mustang 2+2 Fastback with a 4 speed manual transmission and its rebuilt original high performance 289 'A' code V8 engine! A very collectible example of this first generation Mustang and a true 'time capsule' if there ever was one! Data Plate reads: 63A-R-26-23L-71-A-5.
