Vehicle Detail

Every now and again a motorcycle manufacturer will create a model that is near perfect. In 2008 Honda hit it out of the park with the CRF 450R. Much like the fabled 1981 Maico 490 Mega 2, time will treat the Honda CRF 450R model year 2008 very well. Honda, since the redesign in 2009, has yet to capture the magic that they created in the 2008. The 2008 is just a great bike, period. From the clutch, to the ergonomics, to the light feel, cornering ability, to the power to the ground, the 2008 is still a superior Honda to the stock 2009 though 2014 CRF 450 R model years. Not just my opinion, most MX magazines, and those who have owned a few of these model years tend to agree more than disagree, the 2008 is a winner! What we have here for your RESERVE FREE bid, is a 2008 CRF 450R that I have owned for the last few years, I bought from the second owner who never rode it, not once. The bike is ride or race ready, it has no issues from the compression, to the valves, to the power, to the brakes, clutch, tires and plastics, this beauty is ready to rock. It has no hour meter, and last I checked 2 hours of a pro rider and 40 hours of a trail rider cannot be judged on an hour meter. So, I take great care of all my bikes, and instead of hours, I look at the actual metrics of the diagnostics of the motor, not my opinion, or hour meters which I feel can be a bit misleading. Last tear down was done in early 2014, max of 3 hours running time since then. I am moving away from four strokes, back to two strokes, that is the only reason for the sale. And I get what people love about 4 strokes, they roll on and on, and have gobs of power, and are the measure of professional motocross. But I was raised on a two smoker and I am only riding two strokes moving forward, just dig the hit, and the run and gun! Regular maintenance is a part of any thing I own mechanical. The last intake valve read on this bike was at 0.17 (.006) between the cam lobes and valve lifter, and the exhaust valve read at 0.28 (0.11) between the rocker arm and the shim bucket: the bike is in great shape externally and internally. These are acceptable for proper operating guidelines. If you are buying a four stroke, please note that maintaining the bike is key to great performance. The motors are really not that hard to tear down/check/rebuild. Harder than a two stroke, absolutely, but really not a hassle if you are mechanical and enjoy working on bikes. Don't be afraid, once you do it, it gets easier everytime. The bike is sold with a California DMV Bill Of Sale, and a letter stating original date of sale October 3rd, 2007, VIN, etc from the original dealer, Callaway Motorsports in Riverside, CA. Also, again, no reserve. Check my feedback and seller rating! I keep my descriptions transparent. Bid with confidence! Also, it goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway: this is a motocross bike, and not for beginners. 2008 CRF450R Engine Type: 449cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke Bore and Stroke: 96mm x 62.1mm Compression Ratio: 12.0:1 Valve Train: Unicam, four-valve; 36mm intake, titanium; 30mm exhaust, steel Induction: Carburetor, Keihin 41mm flat slide Ignition: CD with three-gear-position electronic advance Transmission: Close-ratio five-speed Final Drive: #520 chain; 13T/48T Suspension Front: 47mm inverted Showa cartridge fork with 16-position rebound and 16-position compression damping adjustability; 12.4 inches travel Rear: Pro-Link Showa single shock with spring preload, 17-position rebound damping adjustability, and compression damping adjustment separated into low-speed (13 positions) and high-speed (3.5 turns); 12.5 inches travel Brakes Front: Single 240mm disc with twin-piston caliper Rear: Single 240mm disc Tires Front: 80/100-21 Rear: 110/90-19 Wheelbase: 58.6 inches Rake (Caster Angle): 26.76 Trail: 111.4 mm (4.3 inches) Seat Height: 37.6 inches Ground Clearance: 13.4 inches Fuel Capacity: 1.9 gallons Colors: Red, Black (2008 special color†) Curb Weight*: 238 pounds Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE
