Vehicle Detail
Hello. You are bidding on a 1968 Camaro project. As you can see from the detailed pictures, this is a reasonably solid West Coast car. Condition is as follows: Drivetrain:Runs, drives and stops. Engine fires right up, idles great and does not smoke. However, the cam is just starting to go flat. Has been converted to HEI ignition. Starter grinds. Transmission is a late model Camaro 5-speed. Clutch feels good and transmission shifts good. Rear-end is a 8.5 Ten bolt with spool and 4:88 gears. Radiator is not correct for the car and has a slow leak Headlights, taillights, blinkers and gauges are all in working orderSteering column and steering box are tightFront-end had been rebuilt at some point with urethane control arm bushings as well as sub-frame bushingsDriveshaft has been lengthened but poorly done. I would not trust this driveshaft from a safety standpoint and would recommend replacingChrome rally wheels and front tires are in like-new condition. Rear tires are old and in fair/poor conditionBrakes are drum on all four. Has a good brake pedal but condition of brakes is unknown Body (front to back): All front sheet metal is new aftermarket replacement including radiator support, fits reasonably wellSub-frame is straight and solidFirewall, cowl and drains have no rustFront and rear window channels, dash and package tray are solid with no rust issues. Dash, itself, remains uncut and has not been butchered. Original radio holes also still intact. Also note, rear package tray has not been butchered or hacked This was not a vinyl-top car so the roof also has no rustDoors, door jams and rocker panels are all in excellent shape. Doors open, shut and fit great. Windows roll up and down good alsoInterior floors are in good shape. Rear foot panels have been replaced and are only tack-welded in at this time (see photos)Deck lid and spoiler are new aftermarket pieces Tulip panel above trunk and trunk jam are solid, no rust. Trunk extensions are also in great shape with no rust. Taillight panel has been replaced with new aftermarket which fits well and appears to be installed correctly. Rear bumper is new alsoBoth rear quarter panels are overall straight and solid but will need lower rear patch panel replacement (behind wheel well)The previous bodywork on the rear quarter panels and taillight panel is fair and should be redone, again, these panels are overall straight and solid and will only need minor work to iron them outFrame rails are straight and solidTrunk floor has some rust holes that either need patched or lower floor replacement (this would be a judgment call) Title: This car started life as a '68 Firebird and still has a clear Firebird title. But, hey...who drives down the road waving their title out the window? I don't.. Do you? Overall: Does it look like a '68 Camaro? Is it affordable? Is it a reasonably solid and 99% complete project? Yes! Obviously, this car is far away from bringing home a trophy at your local car show, so please be realistic and know that you are buying a project. Happy bidding and thanks for looking. Potential Buyers: I have described this car honestly and to the best of my knowledge, but please, if you need additional pictures, or have any specific questions, ask BEFORE bidding as this sale is final with no warranty. Please understand, this is a 40+year old car, so expect normal wear and tear based on mileage and my decription. Serious buyers can feel free to call me with any questions (530) 307-8973. If I don`t answer, please LEAVE A MESSAGE and I WILL call you back!! Lowball offers will not receive a response, I am not out of work, losing my house, etc. I also reserve the right to end auction at any time for local sale. Yes, this car is available in person for inspection at any time before the end of auction as I have nothing to hide. > >SERIOUS BIDDERS WITH 15 OR LESS FEEDBACK WILL CONTACT ME BEFORE BIDDING AS I WILL CANCEL YOUR BID OTHERWISE. NOTHING PERSONAL, BUT I HAVE DEALT WITH TOO MANY NON-PAYING BIDDERS IN THE PAST AND IT WILL NOT HAPPEN TO ME AGAIN. THANKS. Larry Out of country buyers: I have sold cars out of country in the past, have references, and am familiar with the shipping process. I prefer West Coast Shipping but will help arrange safe transport to a shipping port of your choice. On May-29-14 at 13:04:39 PDT, seller added the following information: Correction... Fuel gauge does not work. Wipers also work but are disconnected because the wiper motor has a draw
