1973 Chevrolet Cheyenne Super 20 Camper Special 4 x 4 EXCELLENT CANDIDATE FOR RESTORATION - NO CALIFORNIA SMOG INSPECTIONS 350 4-bbl. Engine, 4-speed manual on the floor: L, 1,2 3. 4 x 4, 2 high, 4 high, 4 low. Spicer locking hubs and transfer case in working order. Tires are Remington Wide Brute: 33 x 12.50 x 16.5 LT Solid Southern California Truck, never used as a work truck; never exposed to winter snow or salt. What rust there is, results from exposure to the elements. Second owner used it for 38 of its 40 years, with a camper. Mileage shows seven thousand plus; don't know if this is 107,000 or not; engine was rebuilt by the second owner. Truck has all the Camper Special features: mounts for camper, shocks between bed and cab, heavy duty overload springs. West Coast Junior mirrors are included, but shown in only one photo. The previous owner installed trailer hitches, FRONT and rear, a no-points ignition, an inside hood release, and dual straight thru mufflers with side exit pipes. Other than that, it is a very un-molested vehicle. Known Issues: A/C inop, Radio inop, Horn disconnected due to short, Fuel Tank Switch inop, missing trim strip on tailgate, some dents in trim and body. I have owned it for four months, and have brought it back to life. It was not used for eight years, and had not been run for one year. I've installed new: fuel pump, master cylinder, battery, spark plugs, thermostat and housing, ignition switch, dash cover and hood pad retainers. I planned to carry the rehab further, but another project came up and I'm only allowed to have one at a time! The truck is advertised locally, so I might sell it before the auction ends on Friday. Thanks again- nasstyz28 Here's the answer: Dear nasstyz28,Hi Nasty, I had taken the PO's word for it that all the drive modes worked and that the hubs worked. I knew you're only supposed to use 4 wheel mode off road, and I just never got around to testing it. But you and another gent, in person, asked me about it today. So I trundled off to a gravel parking lot at my church and tested all the modes, with and without the front hubs being locked. Everything worked altho shifting between modes was stiff; probably due to my inexperience. One time the front hubs were difficult to unlock, but they did. I know the gauges work, but the fuel tank gauge seems to read opposite of the setting; when set to left, it shows what's in the right, etc. Dome light works.Turn signals work. Will have to check the others after dark. Then I'll post another response. Please remember this is a 40-year-old truck, and I've put less than 30 miles on it; I'm sure discoveries will continue to be made. You're welcome; thanks for your interest.
