Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1993 Ford Tempo GL. This was a project car that due to employment I have no time to finish. There is a major amount of rust, including rust holes in both rear floor pan, rear subframe (near the bumper), starting of rust holes near the rear bumper where it attaches to the body, a large amount of rust on the lower trunk pan, rear control arms, and gas tank. The car has 135,000 original miles. From looking at the carfax and the fact this car has sat for over 5 years, I belive it to be accurate. I was going to junk this car, but there are too many new parts on it , including:Rear Shocks replaced less than 50 miles ago. ($60)Rear brake lines replaced less than 50 miles ago. ($30)New rear brake shoes and hardware less than 50 miles ago. ($20).New front rotors, calipers, pads, and control arms ($180)New transmission mount ($15)New Falken Sincera Tires on front and rear less than 50 miles ago. ($200).New Farm and Fleet Battery installed last fall ($60)New master cylinder less than 50 miles ago ($40)So there is a total of $595 worth of new parts. There is also a newer kenwood radio with ipod control, usb input, aux input, and cd player, kenwood 3 way rear speakers and componet front speakers, although one tweeter is missing. A total of $268 was spent on this. Besides the major amount of rust, the front, rear and side glass are all in good condtion. The left and right doors are in good condition with a small amount of surface rust on the lower inside. The trunk lid and hood are in very good condition. The right hand fender is in good condition, the left is in poor condition with a large rust hole. The front and rear bumpers, front and rear tailights and grille are in usable condition as well. The engine and transmission are both mechanically sound, there is about 135,000 miles on the car.. Less than 50 miles ago new spark plugs , wires, and distributor cap and rotor were installed. The transmission fluid was changed about the same time and new filter. The oil was changed within the last 50 miles. I have several new puralator oil filters and air filters to include. The car does run and drive, but being sold as-is, where-is with no warranty due to the amount of rust present. Title is clear and in hand. The auto seat belts do not work and are stuck in the closed position to be legal. The pass. door lock actuator needs replaced, but have new one to include. Rear seat is included, not shown. The panel near the steering wheel needs to be put back on. (shown in rear seat area) There is a $40 fog light kit partially installed, including the other one that needs to be mounted. The heat works, and AC worked last summer. Cruise control, wipers, horn, rear defogger and other electrical work. Trunk and fuel door are both electric and work. New battery cables installed last fall. The upper trim near the door on both sides is missing, and so is the door sill plate on the drivers side, and panel above the door panel on the pass side. Anything else not show is not included.Comes with service manual. I am not sure if it would be worth it to repair the rust, but as mentioned before, there is almost 600 dollars worth of new parts, and if you were to part this car out, the used parts in good condition with mininmal rust would be worth over 600 dollars. The rear window with defogger is worth $150 alone to the right person, as it was an option from the factory. The tires, radio and battery are worth over 250 dollars and are usable on other makes and models. If you have a 1988-1994 ford tempo or mercury sable that is rust free with a blown motor or bad transmission, this would be a very nice parts car.The opening bid is 400 dollars, which is about the same price I could get if I were to junk it. Your bid decides if it goes there or not. Good luck.
