Vehicle Detail

1956 Corvette, VIN E56S002117 estimated build date: April 24, 1956 This car has a replacement VIN tag, and is the legal VIN tag for this car. The car is registered to operate on the roads. I have a current Alabama registration, and will provide a notarized bill of sale to the buyer. These two pieces of paper will get the buyer a title in any other state. For sale is a running, driving, street legal, registered, and legally operational 1956 Corvette. I drive this car when the weather is good. I went on a 50 mile loop in the local area late last week (when the weather finally warmed up enough). OK, so what I have is a 1956 Corvette project car. This car would make a great resto-mod project. The body on this car is mostly original, with the driver's side front fender having been replaced at some point in the past. The repair work on the fender wasn't great, and really needs to be redone, or probably better yet, a new front upper surround installed (that was my original plan). The car has a 1956 passenger car 265 engine built to Corvette specifications (solid lifter cam) and a turbo 350 transmission. Both the engine and the transmission have about 1000 miles on them. The transmission was built for racing, and it is too much transmission for this car. This car is an original powerglide car. The engine block is a flint casting, and is dated mid January, 1956. The frame is solid, with just some small rust holes in one area of the rear cross member. The frame is straight. The brakes have been completely redone, with all soft parts replaced. The car runs and drives fine for a 50 plus year old car. I have personally had this car up to 75 mph on the local interstate. The car comes with the original grill oval (which is broken), the original grill bar (bent) and all of the grill teeth, The original cove side trim is also included. The car has a 1960 steering column (3 1/2 inches shorter than original) and an aftermarket steering wheel. The original seat frames, seat springs, and seat adjusters are also included with the car. The car does not have any external emblems, front or rear bumpers, or exhaust chrome. Both doors are currently empty, but all of the door internals (window regulators, door release mechanisms, window glass and frames) are included with the car. The convertible top also goes with the car. The top frame is in nice shape, but the top material will need to be replaced. There is not a hardtop with this car. The car does not have a wiper motor, but the wiper transmissions and windshiled washer nozzles are still with the car. The car comes with everything shown in the photos with the following exceptions. 1. The wheels and tires that are currently on the car (as shown in the photos) do not go with the car. The car will have a set of roll around wheels with tires that hold air for transport. 2. The original gauges (speedometer, tachometer, oil, temp, volts, fuel, and clock) do not go with the car. These parts would not be needed for a resto-mod in any event. 3. The wonderbar radio and power supply / speaker assembly does not go with the car. Again, not needed for a resto-mod. 4. The dash control knobs / cables for the air, heat, vent, wiper controls do not go with the car. I am selling this 1956 Corvette for health related reasons. NOTE: If any potential bidder has a feedback rating of less than 5, or if any potential bidder is not located in the United States or Canada, you must make contact with me and discuss you bids. If I cannot verify your intentions, I will cancel your bid. I apologize in advance for having to submit everyone to this, but the bad behavior of a few has forced me to make this decision. The reserve on this car is $22,500. Having said that, I will consider the final bid price, and may be willing to accept it if the reserve is not met. I do not have a Buy It Now price. Some people have asked about purchasing just the rolling body / chassis. I an open to this option, and I will take $500 (five hundred dollars) off of the final price, and I will remove the engine and transmission before buyer takes delivery if the buyer so chooses. On Mar-27-14 at 18:55:46 PDT, seller added the following information: ********* Update 3/27/14 ********** I have been asked why the parts are being separated from the car, and if the parts would be available to the winning bidder. I am selling this car as a resto-mod project, and the parts that have been removed would not be needed for that effort. However, I will give the winning bidder first right of refusal on the purchase (at additional cost) of the parts that have been removed. I do have pending offers on the parts if the winning bidder does not want them. The extra parts, however, are NOT part of this auction. Bidders are bidding on what was described in the original ad.
